Cov Cath players on AAU teams???

Featured Replies

I see many threads on here about AAU teams and see the rosters. I never see any kids from CCH on any rosters. Are they playing AAU? They apparently are doing something right.....Their freshmen won the regional, Their JV won the regional, Their Varsity won the regional, and Oh yea, won the state championship also. What are their players doing in the summer.

Many of them play AAU. Last year Ruthsatz and Schuh played for Shining Stars. If memory serves me correctly, Mark Schult also played for the Shining Stars, or someone else. Shumate played for the NKY Slam, and NKY Bulldogs. Flood and Sweeney also played for the NKY Bulldogs. Romes and Theobald also played NKY Slam last year. A few of their freshman this year, also played together.

Many of CCH's kids play aau ball. Some also play other sports.

This summer, Schuh is playing for the Shining Stars. Shumate, flood, Theobald, and Romes all play for the NKY Slam. I think G. Schuh plays Shining Stars also.

Schuh plays for the Shining Star team coached by Price who beat Hoop Dreams in the Bearcat Classic earlier this year.

I heard that several of the now freshman are playing with an organization called Tri State Warriors.

Does anyone know anything about that org?

They have some younger teams playing at SOAS in Florence.

I think you are thinking of the Kentucky Warriors. They have teams 3rd - 8th in both boys and girls at SOAS. Wear black uniforms.

It is the Tri State Warriors. They are not playing at SOAS. They have been playing tournaments. The website above is correct. Tri State Warriors Basketball

OK did a little reading and dropped an email to someone. It appears that the Tri-State Warriors has been around a little longer than Kentucky Warriors. Dwayne Beal/Brian Johnson/Marcus Harris appear to be all in the lead roles in the program. Have never really heard of this program before but did find out they have Lashaunn Townsend from Lloyd, several Dixie & CCH players and the rest are a mix from different schools making up the two 9th grade teams.

Amazing what you get from a little digging.. :)

I know of the 7th Grade Boys Tri-state Warriors fairly well. They are coached by Pete Ohmer and Matt Coleman. They have a nice squad of players and generally compete very well in tournaments.

Tri State Warrior 14u is tops in N Ky, along with Shining Star and Colonels 14u teams:

David Roberdeaux Holy Cross

Tanner Craddock Conner

Ethan Robbins Boone County

AJ Plitzuweit Dixie

Kameron Butler Cov Cath

Luke Thelen Cov Cath

Nick Pfriem Roger Bacon

Alec Pfriem (8th grade)

Nick Thelen (8th grade)

Jeremiah Snorton St. Bernard

They just won the Louisville Coca Cola Classic 3 weeks ago, lost in the semis of the Kings Island Classic 2 weeks ago.

Not sure how you can say they are on the top without mentioning the Legends. They have probably 3 of the top 10 guards in the region and 3 legit bigs. They have played some of the best competition in the Midwest including meanstreets, the family, Mac Irvin fire, St. Louis prospects and have a 2-2 record against those teams. Also winning a tournament in Pigeon Forge and Indianapolis. You need to check them out as they gear up for nationals.
