In late 2011 a church further to the east triggered an uproar by barring mixed race couples. I really don't see that these 3 sentences were relevant to the article. I was rolling along fine with the coal conversation and then a curve ball….racism. I happen to deal within the energy industry, primarily in the energy produced by coal. I have yet to hear 1 person bring race as a factor into this equation. It is simply a matter of the economic stranglehold that killing coal plants off has had on many regions in KY, WV and PA. I get tired of hack journalist trying to interject an item into a position article that in no way is relevant to the core material.

So you don't think race also plays a part in some of these people casting their vote for Obama? You think their vote was cast because of coal and the 3 core conservative values? You don't see the irony in the fact that their only source of income now comes from Obama and welfare yet they don't like him because they only know how to work in the coal mines?

He has certainly done nothing to add jobs but the jobs are being lost because of a continuing decline worldwide in coal. Natural gas is currently killing the coal industry. The coal industry simply is not going to last and no president can change that.
