May 3, 201412 yr You keep trying to put words into my mouth, but I will keep spitting them out. I never said that Obama supporters have played the race card - I said that the Obama administration has played it repeatedly. When I say, the Obama administration, I am certainly including Obama himself. Remember the beer summit? How about the decision for the POTUS to cast the Trayvon Martin shooting as a racist act? I don't expect all blacks would riot in the event of an Obama impeachment. In fact, there are many blacks who value civil liberties and competence in our elected officials who might even rejoice. I am amazed that you dismiss the possibility of race riots in inner city neighborhoods if Obama were impeached. Stunned. I never said that said Obama supporters play the race card. I was simply pointing out the irony of your post and mentioning how some people say that Obama supporters play the race card. I never said those were your words. I hope that one day you'll have a higher regard for black people whether they are in the inner-city or not. If there weren't riots over Trayvon Martin there definitely won't be over Obama. Is Obama allowed to have an opinion? I, like him, believe the Trayvon Martin murder was racially motivated.
May 3, 201412 yr Right on cue. Rather than respond with an intelligent response, liberals tend to brand those with whom they disagree as racists. Thank you for illustrating my point about the kind of tactics that are used to prop up this failed administration. So are you not reading how your posts can be interpreted in that manner? Your posts blame Obama supporters for the failure of our country for voting for him and then you say inner-city blacks would riot if Obama was impeached and that is why republicans are scared to impeach him. Those are your words, aren't they?

Thank you for illustrating my point about the kind of tactics that are used to prop up this failed administration. I never used the word racist at all in the post, and I never said anything about propping up the administration. While I'm a Democratic, I don't fall in line and support everything the current administration does. That also, like another poster claims, apparently makes me mentally deficient. I'm not sure what you expect when, you, in a nutshell say that if a mostly white, republican congress decides to move forward with impeachment, it would lead directly to race wars or riots You're kinda selling a whole bunch of people short. And then when someone calls you out, they are branded as the unintelligent racist. You're statement is a much bigger play of the race card.
May 3, 201412 yr So are you not reading how your posts can be interpreted in that manner? Your posts blame Obama supporters for the failure of our country for voting for him and then you say inner-city blacks would riot if Obama was impeached and that is why republicans are scared to impeach him. Those are your words, aren't they? Obama's failures certainly cannot be blamed on those of those who voted against him, can they? Nor can those who wanted to be part of the movement to elect the first African-American president but then declined to support him for a second term based on his poor first term performance. Republican leaders like McConnell and Boehner have one main interest and it is one that they share with their liberal counterparts in Congress. That interest is to maintain and tighten their grip on power. As long as they can exploit Obama's failures to seize more power, they are not going to expose themselves to bogus claims of racism and potential race riots by impeaching this miserable excuse for a president. Implying that people who hold an opposing opinion are racists is about all Obama supporters have left. They certainly cannot point to many positives that have come from this administration's five years in office. As for rioting, if I had rioted over Rodney King's beating and I also believed that the first black American president was being impeached because of his race, I would be in the streets again. In other words, if there were no grounds for Obama to be impeached and he was impeached over his race (which is ludicrous considering he was popularly elected twice) - then most Americans, including me, would see it as a gross miscarriage of justice. The problem is that we will never know whether Obama has committed any impeachable offenses because he has successfully stonewalled every serious attempt that the Republican House have made to exercise their constitutional duty of oversight. Worse yet, Harry Reid has actively worked to thwart the U.S. Senate from performing any legitimate oversight of the Executive Branch. No U.S. President has performed so poorly and received so little scrutiny from Congress. Obama will simply run out the clock to finish his second term and all working Americans will foot the bill.

I never branded anybody a racist. You did. Not using "the word" does not change that fact.
May 3, 201412 yr I certainly do. Do you have an alternate theory to explain how such an incompetent corrupt president has managed to avoid impeachment? Clinton is a corrupt, lowlife politician but at least he was a competent leader who was able and willing to reach across the aisle. Clinton managed to sign enough popular legislation to avoid a Senate conviction. Yet, Clinton was not able to avoid impeachment. Likewise, Nixon was a criminal whose assaults on our constitutional form of government paled in comparison to Obama's, but the only thing that spared Nixon impeachment was his resignation. How do you explain Obama being spared impeachment? He has repeatedly trumped his political foes by pre-emptively playing the race card to distract attention away from his many failures. When I read this it brings to mind this guy ...:taz:
May 3, 201412 yr When I read this it brings to mind this guy ...:taz:That pretty well sums up how I feel when I think about the damage that Obama and his liberal partners in Congress have done to this country in five short years -- but I am not alone and our numbers grow every day. :lol2:
May 3, 201412 yr Your implication was clear. I never branded anybody a racist. You did. Not using "the word" does not change that fact. I guess it's easy to see and for you to "guess" what I was implying, but not so easy for you to see how your words might make others "guess" what you were implying. You're badically implying you have zero confidence in how a good chunk of a race of people will not react intelligently and resort to violence and destruction. Do you not see how that could be misinterpreted?? Give people a little more credit. Maybe that's not how you meant it, but that's sure how it sounds. I may be naive, but I just don't the only thing that is keeping Obama from being impeached is the fear of Congress that widespread riots will ensue. Like I said, give minorities a little credit. And don't just label somebody unintelligent because they have differing views than you.

And don't just label somebody unintelligent because they have differing views than you.I am implying nothing about any race of people. Violence exists in inner cities because of cultural decay and the decline of the family structure, which in my opinion has its roots in widespread government dependency. That cultural decay exists across the country in most places where the poverty rate is high. Riots are rare in rural areas because they are simply impractical. (Try to organize a flash mob in rural eastern Kentucky with its poor cell phone service.) The War on Poverty, like so many other liberal social engineering programs, has been an abject failure and the failure has nothing to do with race. I don't label people as unintelligent because they disagree with me. I find most of PP92's posts to be articulate and thoughtful, and I frequently disagree with his opinions. However, labeling somebody about whom you know nothing as a racist because they disagree with you is a lazy, dishonest way to debate.

For what it's worth, I don't think you're a racist, nor was that my intent. And the additional clarity and statements you've since provided make that clear. I may have chosen some words poorly, but my choice of words was meant to show how easily your original statements could have been misinterpreted (which PP92 also pointed out, perhaps more eloquently than I:lol2:) in the context they were presented (as could mine). I really believe there are few just outright racists...sure some exist, but for the most part, many of the problems we experience are from lack of understanding, which in turn creates fear, especially when viewing other races and cultures. Using generalities and blanket statements whether it's politically, ethnically, culturally or whatever is what creates the distrust.

Using generalities and blanket statements whether it's politically, ethnically, culturally or whatever is what creates the distrust.Fair enough. I think too many liberals (not all) want to believe the stereotypes that liberal politicians have worked to perpetrate about conservatives and part of that stereotype is that conservatives are racists. Trust me, I am even more disgusted with Republican "leadership" than I am with Obama and his cohorts in Congress. Instead of attacking liberal policies head on and trying to persuade poor people of all races that the government check that many of them are collecting is sucking their souls away, most Republican leaders walk on eggshells to avoid having liberals falsely accuse them of wanting to starve children and throw their parents onto the streets. There are very few principled people serving in the White House or in Congress, regardless of their party affiliation. Most of the ones that I have any respect for are either very conservative or very liberal. Most of the rest have two faces, one for the cameras and another one when nobody is watching them. There are things that Republicans could be doing to hold Obama accountable but Republican leaders believe that they are holding a "winning hand" for the 2014 elections and are too cowardly to take any chances. That kind of strategy is costing the party support among its core constituents. Another problem that I have with Republicans is that too often they do not even ask for the support of minorities and you cannot expect people to vote for you if you don't even request it. IMO, a strong conservative case can and should be made for the votes of blacks and other minorities. I mean, really, where has decades of Democratic "leadership" gotten the residents of large cities like Detroit? Why would new ideas not appeal to desperately poor Americans, regardless of race?
May 4, 201412 yr Historically, our best times as a nation have been when power is split between the parties, and if I recall correctly the best is a Dem President and Rep. Congress. Our worst times are when one party has complete control, regardless of which party it is. Based on what has happened economically over the past few years, that seems to be happening now. If you are paying zero attention to the markets and our economy and listening to the media, you may have missed that. Also, our last real economic boom was the 1990's - Clinton president and Republican Congress. I have been paying attention to the markets and the media both. The truth is, the Republicans are now the problem and we need to vote them all out. Is there a problem with that? Republicans and the Tea Party merely do not like Obama because of his race and their goal is to take us back to the segregation of the 1950's. They would probably re-institute slavery if they could. I find Mitch Rapp's posts to be offensive but the only thing I do agree with is the riots if Republicans continue to manipulate people. People rioted when the results of the Trayvon Martin case were revealed, so it will happen if the Republicans continue their goal of trying to destroy our country and somehow get Obama impeached.
May 4, 201412 yr It looks like we all have different definitions of riots. Trayvon Martin "riots": Who's exaggerating this time?

May 4, 201412 yr It looks like you and fellow liberal, Elmer, have a difference of opinion. :lol2: I don't think I qualify as a liberal but he posted something about Trayvon Martin riots that never happened. That needs to be cleared up ASAP. He also stated that republicans and Tea Party folks don't like Obama because of his race. There may be some who feel that way but I wouldn't brand all of them as feeling that way. Difference of opinion there also.
