Ra-Ra....I won't say that the kid did anything on purpose, but, I did see the hole in the players pants and it was at his thigh. His undergarment is what protected him from that being worse than what it was.

I will agree with Ganns. He is and has always been a force.

 

You people... Coming from a neutral fan who went to the game today, that runner definitely by no means was intentionally trying to spike the kid. It was obvious (and I mean obvious) that it was under thrown and the shortstop came up to make a play on the ball and he crossed in to the baseline. It is still obstruction because he did not fully control his slide, however these posts about sliding high and such are non sense. The call at third was the correct call as well, but even if it wasn't the correct call, Boone still would have been up 3-1.

 

Now for the actual game, I don't see many beating Ganns this year when he is on the mound. He is a force and attacks you non stop. The Dunn kid for Cooper also pitched well, had a fine outing just didn't have many bats on his side today.

Clyde.. The shortstop was on the base stretching out to receive an underthrown ball towards the first base, as he was stretched out, the contact was made.

Actually it looked like his splitter, but I guess you would have to ask T Ganns. Either way he worked out of the jam. Cooper made him work though and he threw a lot of pitches. He got them on a few pitches up and was up in the zone more than I have ever seen him. Still got the job done though. Kudos to T Ganns!!!

 

 

I agree, Ganns is tough..bases loaded 3-2 count and he strikes out the kid out with a curve ball to end the inning...

This was a District battle. The parents got well out of hand and took away from the battle on the field. I saw a lot of disrespectful parents when there was game stoppage due to injury. If your kid is on the ground or your kid has an issue on the mound with an injury, the last thing you want to hear are some people be disrespectful to the kid. That was the worst thing I've seen in many a years.

 

How about game stats? Who pitched, any good hits, plays. You have to love the district games. A lot of emotions flowing.

Dunn went 5 2/3 and I think Boone had 1 ER. Ganns went 5 giving up 1 ER. Dunn was the only player for either team to have multiple hits. Ganns and Dunn both doubled for the 2 extra base hits in game. Hits were at a minimum in this game. Boone 7 hits and Cooper 5.

Was Ganns and Dunn the only hits out of the infield? Also, I think the Purnell kid from Boone had multiple hits , possible 3 based on how they were recorded.

Couldn't agree more. There were some Boone fans and Boone parents who were just outright embarrassing. Never heard more whining from a kindergarten class who just got their juice boxes taken away. Very embarrassing and they showed zero class. It was a shame. The coach making a comment of "Show me the cleat marks" was also way out of line especially while the kid was laying on the ground hurt. Totally classless. You want to see cleat marks? Cooper's catcher still has them from Friday Nights game against Boone.

 

Totally classless by some Boone supporters and it was very embarrassing.

 

Now about the game itself. Great pitchers duel. Both starters only gave up 1 hit going into the 5th inning. Ganns was on top of his game. it was a 1-1 game going into the 5th when things got ugly. Errors allowed 3 runs for Boone and that is all they needed. Congrats to the Rebels for a big win in a district seeding game.

Thank you ....But really wasn't trying to but when Boone played Cooper last week Boone had a lot of Errors and really wanted this game. To good teams that will see each other again in Districts.

Lets say the ump's interpretation of the rule was totally wrong, still no place to embarrass the players by getting ejected. Let the kids play, sit down and zip it or don't come at all. That game wasn't about anyone's vast knowledge of the game in the bleachers. Great pitching match up. Probably the best seen in the county for several years.

I have no problem with yelling at the umps, shoot I do it lol. The difference was going on and on and on at the top of their lungs got beyond irritating. It was non stop for several minutes at least.

 

The same ump made a horrible call at 3rd when Cooper 3rd baseman had the ball and laid the glove down on the ground for the tag 3 steps before the boone runner got there and the ump called him safe and his explanation was the tag was high lol...even that horrible call which was the worse one of the game got about 5 seconds of boo's from the cooper crowd compared to 10 minutes of screaming at the top of their lungs on the one the Boone folks were upset about.

 

There is a time to show your disgust in a call and then let it go already....the difference yesterday was they didn't let it go and the act of Boon'es 3rd base coach to actually say "Show me the cleat marks" was beyond ridiculous.

 

The field ump was horrible yesterday, but we knew it would be as soon as he showed up, he's never been good. Same ump that got Cooper's coach Bieger tossed last year at CCH for a horrible call. Same type of call he made at 3rd yesterday. He is just bad, but that is no reason to go on like they did. I'm sure, or at least hope they are embarrassed by their actions. I have been tossed from a game before but nothing was as bad as yesterday that I can ever remember. People lose their heads and that is understandable, but they need to realize when to step back and take a deep breath and realize it's only a game.

You're pretty much spot on. High cleats had nothing to do with the call.

 

In high school the runner has to make a legal slide on a force play. In order for it to be legal he must go directly into the bag but NOT go over or past the bag and make contact with the defender. In this case, the runner went in to the side of the bag and made contact. By rule, automatic double play.

 

So, I'm curious as to what the Boone fans, coaches, and players were upset with that caused them to somehow be "inspired."
