Gallatin Co. 58 Owen Co. 57

The late game magic continues for the Wildcats as Scott Brown's layup with 10 seconds proved to be the game winner. The rebels missed a contested shot underneath and time ran out as the ball was loose on the floor.

Brown had broken a 54-all tie with 2 FT with 42 ticks left, but Justin Toole's 3 point play with 22 seconds remaining had given Owen the lead.

Freshman Trent Maddox and Sophomore David Henson led Gallatin with 14 apiece. Junior Josh Giles added 13. Senior point guard Justin Davis did not score , but played an excellent floor game.

Gallatin advances to Friday's title game against the Carroll- Henry winner.

Gallatin keepts getting wins. So they move to the region. Congrats. I have been meaning to see this team play, but unfortunately, the 35th final is Friday and that is my committment.

Way to go GC. The young players come thru again when the game is on the line, the future looks bright. Hats off to Toole and Sutherland from Owen.

Nice game by Toole....People talk about players getting in the zone.....Well he was there tonight

When's the last time GC got to a region?

Congrats to GC. Bring home that district title on Friday and keep the season rolling.

Haven't won a region game since 58

I don't know if you mean 1959 but my sources tell me that the Wildcats went to the sweet 16 in 1959 under the direction of Jock Sutherland.

1999.

Here's a few other questions:

When's the last time Gallatin County won a district title?

And if it is indeed correct that the year of GC's only Sweet 16 appearance in 1959 was the last time GC won a game in the region, when would be the last time before that?

Gallatin did win the district in 1999 by defeating Trimble, Carroll, and Oldham in OT. 1959 was their last regional win. I will have to do some research on any victories prior to '59.

I didn't know they won the district that year. Had it been a long time before that when they won their last district title? I appreciate the info, as the Wildcats will be getting a mention in my column this week.

The Wildcats were also 29-3 that year, and lost a heartbreaker in the 1st round of the Region.

Congratulations on the Wildcats win over Owen!

1959 was their last title before '99.

Wow. How many trips to the region since '59? Can't be more than five or six, are there?
