Conner 12 Beechwood 2

Featured Replies

While 12 runs is an issue and obviously hard to overcome, what many see as the number 1 offense in

the region should score more than 2 runs.

I didn't think we would ever see the Tigers get run-ruled this season.

I don't even think their is a clear cut "Number 1 offense" in the region. Beechwood has scored a lot of runs in some games, but others in the region have done the same. Going I to this past weekend Cooper was avg 9 runs a game, Boone I think was something like 8 etc. I think Beechwood is very much like last year and should have a great year but I think Dixie is the team to beat this year.

This is going t be a fun season because their are so am y teams that can beat eachother in any given day. Fasten your seat belts, should be a bumpy ride.

I didn't say "clear cut"

Conner is no Dayton!

Great. Finally. A comment in reference to the Dayton game and so very clever. I was wondering what was taking so long.

I will say I got to this one in the 4th inning. Score was 5-2, and the only regulars for BW on the field we Stringer and Schmidt. Considering Doc Morris coming up, really surpeised Connor went with their ace. Guess it was more important to them.

You may be off an inning. The top of BW's lineup batted 3 times (meaning Stringer, Suchanek, Combs, Slusher).

I'm pretty sure they all batted in the top of the 5th.

Congrats to Conner. Job well done. Pitching ruled and held their bats off.

We need to let this one go fellas, BW fans need to tip their hats to Conner who didn't start the season very highly ranked and Conner fans need to realize they faced a starting pitcher who sitting low 70's ams lacking experience. Though I would argue Blaise Ostertag is Conner's ace and Ross was coming back from injury, they didn't see him at his best. Nice to hear Combs showed college field homerun power and Hart going 3 for 3.

Is Doc Morris really that big, in the past it is a rain-out mess. With all the Midland- self hype, Beechwood will probable see more non- district games played hard ,more then you would believe.

You are correct, I was speaking defensively, and was certainly not a shot at Conner in any way, guess I can see how that could have been taken. The Conner kid had some nasty stuff, and BW scored 2 runs. That would't have changed no matter who was on the hill or in the field.

I understand Malibu no offense taken. I like both teams and barring injuries, expect both to have a great season.

Regarding BW's choice of pitchers, they had a couple All A games this week and smartly saved their stud pitchers for those games which certainly mean more than the Reds Showcase game with Conner.

It seems that the Doc Morris might have more significance than before. I have read where they are trying to bring more teams in from other parts of the state. This would provide a good barometer for NKY teams to what their competition could be should they advance in the state playoffs. Yes, rainouts do create scheduling nightmares but that is part of Spring high school ball.

By the way, you are the first one in this particular thread to mention Midland.

While I agree that BW has/had some big games looming with the All A Final and the Doc Morris, this was still an important game between 2 good teams at the Reds Futurecase with scouts in attendance.

You are correct, My Midland comment was toward the other numerous threads about Midland over hyping their players. I think we all know Midland will not chirp in on this thread.

If "chirping' is sending out their players stats to get them pub, they are guilty as charged I guess. They do it for ALL their players, not just the BW kids. Coaches are criticized either way. Either they don't do enough to get the kids exposure, or they do to much. That twitter account has over 1000 followers, many of them college coaches who want to see that stuff as it's the only way they can follow their commits or recruits. Lord knows the local press isn't busting down any doors to get baseball stats out. I just don't get the mentality of some of you haters, it can honestly only be categorized by one little J word. BTW, fairly certain I read BW had three hits, all from Midland kids. Chirp Chirp.
