Top 25 Baseball players in NKY

Featured Replies

Trey Ganns gets my vote (well, if I had a vote). Has been the ultimate 2 way threat all year.

I would have to agree. Trey Ganns has never really had a bad outing that I know of and the kid can flat out crush the ball. He would be my pick also.

There is another player who I would put on the list of the top 25 that wasn't mentioned at the beginning of the year and that would be Alex Holland. He has been the most clutch and consistent bat in the Cooper lineup and has already had several game winning hits.

I would have to say Trey Ganns for 9th POY. He has been on fire at the plate and the most dominant pitcher all season.

Not getting to see much baseball this season, I would really like to know these guys body of work. It's easy to throw names out there, but I think this needs more substance. Like, what are their numbers? Who have they beat? ect.. From looking at threads on here, there could be cases for a handfull of players that could be up for honor. The names I see most frequent are Ganns, Dunn, Combs and King. That doesn't really mean anything, so it would be nice to have the above questions answered. JMO!

Who do you think should get it?

Ganns is leading Boone with a .480 batting avg and had great starts against all 3 district teams which was a big part of going undefeated in district play. He had a nice win against Harrison County and topped it all off with a perfect game against Walton Verona.

Rocky...I don't really know, that's why I ask the question. Sounds to me at least the 4 I mentioned have some Gold Stars by their names based off what I've heard. Is this a problem finding out this information? Someone has to have something.

That's what I'm talking about Juneball1. Good stuff!

Exactly. The big thing for me is who he has started against, and how he has performed in those starts. Dunn is probably my runner up, but he just hasnt had the year Trey has. No offense to big Brayden, but he isnt even the MVP of his team, let alone the region. We fall in love with the long ball, but Jason Suchanek is the heart and sole of that team. #1 starter, SS, pure heart and leadership. Stringer and Combs get all the pub it seems, but Jason just goes out and does it.

I guess we'll have to wait to hear from the Old Big Cat on Dunn. He's been at meetings all day so he's missing out on the fun! I'm sure he'll chime in though.

If that's the case Mailbu, I totally agree. Just see and hear about him a lot.

I was at the Boone/Cooper game, Dunn and Ganns both had good games. Both hit well, but I feel Dunn was relieved at the right time, Boone's bats were starting to figure him out. Ganns was just a little stronger that evening. I know the game thread really didn't talk about the game, but I thought both teams had great relief behind their aces. When the aces are very close in match up, the relievers are the difference in the game most of the time.

I agree that Jason is the guts and glue of the Tigers but there is more to Breyden than the long ball. I have not seen his latest stats but he has been hitting between .500 and .600 most of the year with a boat load of RBIs and not as many HRs as many think. He will be missed the rest of the season. It is difficult to replace his production and smoke on the mound. There have been many MVPs in the Tigers line-up this year but I would have to go with Suchanek as my team MVP which means more to me than a NKY POY. He gets things going at the plate and is close to a sure thing on the mound. Cannot wait to see him play on Victory Parkway the next 4 years.

I'm willing to bet he would be ok with Ganns then followed by Dunn etc as runner up. I've seen Ganns pitch 3 times and everyone he has been consistently on. Dunn had the best outing I've seen all year against great competition when he pitched against Cov Cath and got that win, but Ganns has been the most consistent in my eyes. Dunn has some great wins though 2 of the top teams in the state this past week in beating both Cov Cath and Dixie. I haven't gotten to see Beechwood this year so I can't comment on them. For me so far though the best pitchers I've seen are Ganns, Dunn and King and all 3 of them have some of the most power at the p,ate for their respected teams.

First off, thanks Jimmy and Hellbird for the pressure. Pick between 2 of my favs! T Ganns has been solid all year long from what I've heard and has put up great numbers. Basing it off that, I would probably lean towards T Ganns.

I will not take anything away from H Dunn though, he plays a tough position when not on the bump and has had a great season. Hitting he has a .492BA, .580 OB% and 12 XBH. Pitching he has 9 App, 4-3, 2.80 ERA. He did get the W against state ranked #5 Dixie and #6 CCH. In district play he BOMBED against Ryle but was tough against Conner 6INN, 0ER, 2H and Boone 5 2/3INN, 1ER, 4H.

Several players have put up nice numbers this year. Ross and Hart from Conner Forbes from Ryle. I am sure several players from Dixie would be in the mix also..
