Congrats to Coach Bradley and the Kittens. Final four. Wonder if any of the other 3 will be district losers? Great run.

Nope, they all won their districts.

Good game from Ashland. Their length really bothered Danville throughout the game and Danville only shot 29% from the field. They couldn't buy a three point basket until the fourth quarter and by that point they were trying to rally. The Lady Ads did cut Ashland's 10 point lead to 5 in the fourth quarter, but couldn't get it any lower than that.

I would disagree with your synopsis there, DF. Danville had the edge over Ashland at the half when it came to rebounds, something like 27-13, their issue was that paltry 21% shooting in the first half. If you are cleaning the boards as well as that, especially when you aren't expected to, why not attack the basket more instead of keep launching threes? Doing that even early in the second half may have seen Fouch foul out and that could have been a game changer. Just my twopennorth! ;)

I don't discount the rebounding edge (I didn't see that stat), but I do think the length of Ashland caused a lot of those misses the Lady Ads had around the basket and some of the poor FG%. They had to fight for nearly every layup opportunity and there probably should've been a few more foul calls on some of their drives. I'm not sure how many blocks Ashland had in the game, but it seemed like they got more on Danville than the Lady Ads were used to. The other thing about rebounding is that the Lady Ads may have had more, but it wasn't like they were getting clean rebounds either and the Kittens got a few crucial put backs on the offensive end.

Ashland hit several crucial 3's throughout the game to extend a lead or overcome a Danville run. Danville bricked their wide open opportunities on the wings and that killed them in this game.

I agree that they needed to go more after Fouch in the second half. If they managed to foul her out, I think the course of the game would've changed in a big way. Of course, I think the refs swallowed some of their whistles in the third quarter since the Kittens had 0 team fouls in that period of the game.

KITTENS REACH FINAL FOUR

BOWLING GREEN — Hello Final Four!

Ashland defeated Danville 64-55 on Friday afternoon at Diddle Arena to reach the Girls State Tournament semifinals for the first time in the modern era.

The Kittens will play Saturday night at 7:30 (EST) in the first semifinal game.

Ashland and Danville played to a 24-24 stalemate in the first half but the Kittens took control. The Lady Admirals led 28-24 but a 7-0 run put the Kittens ahead 31-28.

Danville answered again, taking the lead 34-33, but Ashland scored five in a row and never looked back. The biggest lead was 11 points.

Haley-Sue Foutch overcame early foul trouble - four in the first half - to finish with 19 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Kittens.

It was the 26th win of the season for the Kittens of coach Bill Bradley, who were making their third consecutive trip to the State Tournament.

Ashland plays Butler on Saturday at 7:30

Any way you look at it. GREAT YEAR for the lady ads basketball team. Good Luck to kittens against a very talented Butler team.
