Jon Jones cries too much. He is a decent coach but would get a lot more respect if he didn't protest every call against his team. I don't know where the COY comes from. They have had a decent year but even if they survive and win this very weak district they won't last long in the regionals.

Sounds like someone is not happy over the fact that thier team flopped after being preseason #2 in the 8th region. We all know that those predictions were way off base from the start, which is not the players or coach's fault. With that being said , i believe that if Coach Jones were coach at Carroll County, the Panthers would not have underachieved all season. Keep in mind that on paper CC has more talent than GC. After all, CC did place two players on All Region Team( Mcmahan and Miller), GC placed one ( Davis). CC player rotation included mostly seniors while Coach Jones played nine players:1 senior, 3 juniors, 3 sophs, and 2 freshman.

Yes the 8th region overall is down, it is Shelby's to lose. Regardless of what happens in the 31st District or 8th Region tournament, we are all playing for second anyway.

:confused: I am not sure if I agree that they dont have alot of talent, IMO they do have talent, it is just young talent, that should be very competitive for the next few years to come.

Perhaps, talent on the rise. But not as much talent as other teams in this region.

Unfortunately I will have to disagree. What makes Mr. Jones getting the award so special is that he kept winning with a minimal amount of talent.

Nothing against John Jones at Gallatin...but, Mike Clark at Shelby Co. did a great job..ranked all year, hard place to coach!

Comment on #3 Pat Steele of Williamstown, #5 Boston Howe and #8 Bailey Tabor of Grant County. All three are class kids who not only get it done on the court but also in classroom and outside of school.

Pat excels in other sports such as baseball and golf. He lived in the shadow of Zach Mefford for the past three years but everyone who played Williamstown knew of his abilities. Should be commended for playing hard without any help this year. It was nice to see the coaches recognize his talents.

Boston has had a nice two sports career. He is all state in soccer and is the all time leading goal scorer in Grant County with 20 more goals than #2. He has scored 1000 points in his basketball career. It s nice to see all around athletes in this day of AAU basketball and select soccer. He has been a joy to watch in both sports.

Bailey is the poster child for middle school kids who want to get better but get no recogntition early. He never played an organized sport until his 7th grade year. Had athleticism but no skill. He has passion for the game. He worked on his game at the park in the summer and worked with coaches year round. He was the most improved player on the team every year from 7th grade through 11th grade. He has now been rewarded by opposing coaches.

Although insider you think its personal it aint. Wade might have improved his game and all that but he is still wade. but i thought wade is one of the top juniors in state from what i seen and read and what bout the north oldham game he kinda lost his tempwer there i believe i was there and wade just lost his head. Anyways everything that is said bout him on here makes him more and more big headed. And no i dont make a difference he moved to Gallatn or even Warren Central or back to where he is from. I dont have a problem with him leaving he went to a club that could go to state and he most likley will. so Congrats on that wade but wha t bout the game that he blew that winning shot and Aj passed him the ball. :sssh:

MO-"Not alot of talent", "Minimal amount of Talent". This young team were 63 and 6 from 7th through freshman year, not coached by Mr. Jones. They did not hide from anyone, they took on anyone that would play them, including the Shelby's and the Oldham's. As well as beating Carroll County with Eugene Wade. Coach Jones knew the talent he had in this young team when they were 7th graders. He hired the right coaches and put them in the best camps. I rarely post any threads and usually only read them. I have to remind myself from time to time, that you guys are only fans of other teams posting your opinions, not your expert wisdom. Statistic show, there is alot of talent on the Gallatin County Team!
