11th Region bias/Lafayette

Featured Replies

Definitely no excuse. But that does help to explain why he might not have been chosen. Also, is Hicks beloved by his fellow 11th Region coaches? That might alter some voting too.

I am not sure who is in charge of bluegrass preps, but is this avaiable to all you experts out there to attack a coach or player's integrity?

I'm confused. If he's not a member of KABC then he can't be chosen. I also asked was it possible that people might not vote for Hicks because they don't like him. I don't know if they do or not. But I'm sure many votes have been cast in many elections over the years because they didn't like the opponent. It wasn't a slight at anyone - rather, I'm just trying to figure out reasons why the obvious choice for best coach in the 11th Region wasn't chosen as best coach in the 11th Region.

Is Hicks a member of the KABC? In football you can't win coach of the year awards if you aren't a member of the coaches organization, correct?

Yes Billy Hicks is a member of the KABC.

There is a full list of members on the KABC website.

No one is attacking anyone. He is a member of the KABC, as per their website.

Not sure what you mean by attacked.

Thanks for the clarification. That knocks out one reason why he wasn't chosen.

Such entertainment. Everyone tip toeing around feelings and the truth. You can't post certain things with fear of them being removed or your account being suspended. If one is familiar with the voting process for these awards it doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out how the vote is won. The truth shall set you free my friends!!

Tip-toeing? I assume the coaches of the 11th Region probably like Mendenhall more than Hicks and voted accordingly. Of course, I could be wrong. But that seems like the only viable reason.

Close enough. Certain coaches have a monopoly on many voting processes in the 11th region.

No risk of suspension if you post truth. Let's hear it.

KABC voting has two rules, you must be a member and you can't vote for anyone from your own school. When a certain school had 7 coaches registered as voters with KABC it's easy for them to away a vote. Imagine one school casting 7 votes for one coach in the region. Then add that in with other 2-3 votes that candidate might get. It's never fair. There are silent yet strong alliances between certain schools in the region. It's no secret.

Interesting. I would have assumed only the head coaches would have received a vote.

I don't doubt that, but I don't understand the voting process. Can you really have multiple votes from one school? Seems counterproductive if you aske me.

Each school can pay for a school wide membership or an individual coach membership. If a school pays for a school membership all assistants get to to vote as well.

My feeling as well. I'm not sure how you would count more than one vote from a school or why the KABC would.
