Does assitant coach, Tony Baccagulpo (sp) teach at Cov Cath now? Maybe he is being groomed for the job? Interesting as this came up in conversation yesterday at the game. He does a very nice job with the kids and once was head coach at the Grove.

Yes, Tony teaches at Covington Catholic. I think he teaches Economics. Not sure what else.

I hadn't given too much thought on the economic aspects of the position but should have. Who would be on the wish list of the Colonels?

I think the question should be phrased would Code from Brossart consider the job???

I don't disagree, however, if you're looking at it from purely a better job standpoint, CovCath is the better position.

I'm a Brossart alum, so it pains me to say that, but it's the reality.

The heavy majority of people are very pleased with Coach Ruthsatz and hope that he stays at CCH for the foreseeable future.

I have no information one way or the other, but I find it hard to believe that Coach would move his family to NKY only to move again within three years simply because his eldest went to college.

From a pure coaching aspect, I always had these guys at the top (in no order, to save the argument)- Carr, Jones (at Gallatin) and Booher. Does Ruthsatz belong in that group? I say yes but......

With Ruthsatz being a teacher, does that allow his kids a free education at CCH? Also, does that trickle down to the feeder schools? I know that a few years ago that was the case, that if you taught at the HS level, your children's education was free at a feeder (or maybe any diocese) grade school.

With a lot of kids, that can add up and be a nice benefit if in fact you plan on sending them to catholic schools.

I get what you are trying to say but describe better position? Salary, dealing with parents, having internal support, meeting expectations, Athletes in the hall ways, Booster support.

Really depends on your definition.

Yes, he left here for a teaching position. He would be a good choice.

TQL lost a good one. I know when he left the Grove he told me it was hard to justify what he was making by missing work at TQL. We tried to figure out the hourly rate of a HS baskeball coach. That was funny!

Depends on what you're looking for.

CCH has a much higher profile.

Plays a better schedule.

Plays quality downstate and out-of-state teams.

Brossart is THE sport on campus.

Can contend annually for the All A.

Might(no clue really) have less parents chirping in your ear.

From an outsider's view BB has less expectations(and that's not a criticism).

I would assume since both are part of the diocese that the pay is the same or darn close.

That was my point exactly, It really depends on what a coach wants. FYI, Coach Code teaches at Highlands and coaches at Brossart. So only salary part would be the pittance they get for coaching hoops.

Whenever this job at CCH comes open it will be interesting to see if the coach to be a teacher in the school.

I don't think that is the case any longer.

Keep it in house! I really hope Coach stays, if he does go, he has set them in a good situation regardless of tonight's outcome. You need to try to keep that energy going. Bacigalupo won 20+ at Silver Grove as a head coach (I believe that's correct), Otte is young, but played college ball, been under Ruthsatz system, and has the pedigree, then there is Joe Frederick, his record speaks for itself, plus has a phenomenal relationship with CVH.

Heard through the grapevine that Ruthsatz leaving is a done deal. Heard it from another coach close to the situation.

With all that said, I wouldn't be willing to put a considerable amount of money on it.

If he does leave, I believe CCH will not be nearly as competitive next season losing both Ruthsatz.

I think Ruthsatz is one of the best coaches in the 9th region, if not the best, and one of the best in all of NKy, really. When you watch his teams play, he really puts guys in a position to succeed. On top of that, he really does a good job of taking away an opponents strength and makes them play to their weaknesses. His teams have had a tendency to be able to play almost any style. Some teams can NOT run zone offense, some struggle against press and pressure, some can't pick up on switching defenses. Scott Ruthsatz teams can typically do all of the above and that is a tribute to his ability to coach and get his players to buy in. His "system" appears to be one that is built around the kids he has. He doesn't seem to try to fit a square peg intro a round hole. Really enjoy watching his teams play. They fight and battle.
