Fan Rushes Court To Confront Coach DURING The Game

Featured Replies

I disagree. If I screw up at work they wont let me finish, as most places wouldnt. Time for a life lesson, act and do something stupid, then pay the piper. You play you pay. It aint like he is some dumb teen in high school, he is fully aware or what he did was wrong and knew better. He got his 10 sec of fame.

Difference is your work pays you to be there. The school has been paid significantly for the semester.

And the kid should have to pay significantly for his behavior.

For the record, I would not support immediate expulsion. Charge him but let him finish the semester.

it was a stupid thing to do but wait to kick him out until he finishes the semester.

What if this is his last semester before graduation? Free pass?

From the school? Yes. Not from the police.

He should have thought about that before doing it. Toss his butt.

If he breaks an established code of conduct, he deserves immediate suspension. How much he is paying for the semester has no bearing on the issue, other than it should be a deterrent for this type of behavior.

It should be a stiff penalty to keep people from repeating the behavior. If folks are only suspended a semester it may not be a big deal to run on the court and cuss out an opposing coach. Kick them out of school and I bet folks will be less inclined to run on the court.

If he would have rushed up on a stage during a university theater production to confront the producer would we still call for expulsion?

I agree with Clyde. Charge him, then suspend from school after the semester. But send a message that you do not set foot on the court.

Letting you finish out the semester sends exactly that message. You are the kid who never goes to class and realizes that you are probably going to fail all of your classes by early November? Why not run out onto the court at a UK game if they're going to let you come back, finish up and have your moment of fame on campus?

We'd be livid if someone did this at a UK game.

Expel the kid, let the authorities press charges. That sends the message perfectly fine.

From the school? Yes. Not from the police.

Yes. Let him go to all of his classes next week and see how the professors like that. See how the other kids in class react.

Say you were trying to let him finish out his semester when nothing good can come from it aside from the kid who acted like an idiot being able to say he finished out the semester and was then kicked out.

Horrible idea in my book.
