Takes them all to make a team run. Thanks for noticing.

Did anyone notice any frustrations by the NCC bigs inside tonight? Tonight was a perfect opportunity for both Shulte & McDonald to have seasons high but the ball was just not getting inside.

Just think that not involving the bigs (Weyer included) starting Sunday could be the death of them.

39 points by the big 3 does not sound too frustrating to me? Lot's of options on that team. They will take what you give them. Also noted LB's comments about how well the bigs kick it out. And please don't discredit the athletic and physical play of Noble and Kunstek.

Lot's of tools on NCC, they each take their turn and shine when they need to. 71-45 over an improved St. Henry team shows you they are doing what it takes to make a run when they need to. No need to worry about who gets season highs on any given day.

I agree, my comment was not to take anything away Noble, Kunstek and how they played. It may only have been just a few times I noticed this that stood out in my head. The times I noticed Shulte and McDonald posting up in a good position and not getting the ball and honestly it didn't look like the guards were looking to go inside. Just wondering why you don't use your height advantage when you have it.

All NCC players seem to be very unselfish when someone gets open. I could totally be looking to deep into it which is why I was looking for another perspective. Thanks.

Jake Schulte was a man on the boards last night. His length and athleticism really give opposing teams problems.

Zack Pangallo was feeling it last night. One of the best looking jumpers in the area.

Drew McDonald and Ben Weyer's versatility at the 3 and 4 make Newcath so tough to defend. They run a nice pick and pop with the mid range and outside game. Weyer even threw down a nice one hand jam in transition.

Overall, this Newcath team was clicking on all cylinders last night. Great ball movement for easy looks when St Hank tried to force them to run offense. Crashed the boards. Made the shots they were supposed to. But most importantly, flat out got after it on D.

There's a reason why they are favored to get to Rupp and last night was just another good example why.

The only "downfall" was I saw St Henry miss a lot of shots around the rim that teams like Covcath and Holmes won't miss. Other than that, another dominating performance by the Breds.

Also was nice seeing and talking to PANDA and LB13 last night. See you guys again tomorrow night.

As TAC mentioned, I think that the Crusader defense made it harder for the NCC Bigs than it looked.

Very proud of the Crusader faithful! Big group of kids came to cheer on their team. Most stayed all the way to the dreadful end.

Thank you, Crusader student section! You made this season a most enjoyable ride.

Wanted to congratulate my cousin's kid, Nick Rechtin on a great career!!!

Nick was always a low key but outstanding player. Glad to see he finished his HS career leading his team in scoring. You will be missed at St Henry Nick and to the other seniors on that team like Noble, Plummer etc. it was great getting to know you kids over the years and your parents too! Good luck in your future!

I think TAC was correct that the Cru made life harder for the NCC bigs but as I mentioned I thought there was times during the game that the guards could have looked inside more giving those big guys more opportunities. The ball was swung at times I felt by relex and not by looking & understanding what is going on the floor and swinging it.

I think you are right. And you will find that very same issue on so many high school teams.

To quote Clyde, (as I often do), "High school basketball is a guards game." and "Very few high school guards have mastered the art of passing in to the bigs."

This is not a "slam" on the guards, but the problem lies in the fact that the guards take that extra "split second", and by then the pass is not there. They need to trust their abilities and make the pass right away.

There is some truth to this, but I feel Pangallo and the Moeves brothers have the ability to make the passes.

Ron Dawn is a freaking stud! He coached me in a game 26 years ago, he would bench press on the sidelines during our 2 weeks of practice. I had not seen Coach Dawn until this year, besides a little gray hair, the main is built like a brick house and the intensity has not dropped off!

Coach Dawn is great on and off the court. He is very generous & kind with youth hoopsters & families throughout Campbell County region.

This was more what I was thinking. It wasn't the bigs posting up and being in position, it should have been about the guards making the passes inside. These boys can make the pass, I just wonder about the hesitation of not making the pass it. Passing is def a lost art which is very hard to master. Nick R does a nice job of firing the bullet passes inside, he is just one that comes to mind.

I'm not playing in these fast pace high pressure games, so don't want to give the opinion that I"m second guessing them. Just trying to understand if that is possible.
