All State Baseball Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 Final from the 53rd District Championship
The Professor Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 I watched the UK game and didn't listen to this one. Wished I had forgot about the Cats and tuned in to the high school broadcast.
gold sunrise Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 With Corida having a player out, this is closer than I thought it would be.
2-3-Zone Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 Cordia was up 17 at one point in the first half . Cordia struggled at the line tonight, killed them.

JokersWild24 Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 Cordia and Hazard have been overlooked as the #3/4 teams in the race for the 14th, but are definitely proving themselves capable of beating Perry Central and Knott Central.
jahearme Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 So, the KHSAA brought in officials to do this one? Anybody got the scoop on this? Big black eye to the 14th region guys if this is right.

The Professor Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 The regional tournament drawing is tomorrow afternoon, I think at 2. Hazard and Perry will be in opposite brackets, as will Knott and Cordia. Should be a dandy of a tournament at Perry Central.
Ole Kentuckian Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 I watched the UK game and didn't listen to this one. Wished I had forgot about the Cats and tuned in to the high school broadcast. I quit worrying about the Cats quite some time ago. We have a number of true-blue fans that travel 100 miles to see them play every time they're at home, one of whom is a photographer who gets to sit on the floor. A majority of them aren't going this year. It doesn't matter how much I love or support a team, if the players don't put forth a full effort and worse, don't seem to even learn from their experiences (touted thought they may be as McDonald's All Americans) I don't consider it worth the emotional investment. Apparently quite a few agree with me voting by not attending. Sometime is going to have to change up there. Don't know what to blame it on but I'd much prefer to "stay at home" and watch high school kids make the effort and go home knowing they did. And sorry, wasn't trying to hijack the thread - congrats to KCC on their victory over Cordia. Must have been a danday.
cahall Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 Cordia came out on fire. The crowd was at a fever pitch and it looked really gloomy for KCC after Cordia extended their lead to 23-6. A couple of timeouts were called by Knott before they regained their composure. The next score update was Cordia 25-24. A complete change took place as the rest of the game was nip and tuck. Free throw shooting was not good overall by either team. The effort was there by both teams and the game was very physical. In the end the game could have gone either way. Cam Justice sank 4-4 from the FT line with under a minute to go. The game was in doubt as the buzzer sounded as Cordia was down two and was shooting the second FT. They purposely missed that shot and the ball went to the floor as the game ended. Both teams should be complemented on playing a tough game well. Don't count any of the Big 4 out in winning this region. 4 major factors will highlight the regions. Knott has been there. Perry has the home floor advantage and the duo of JJ and Braxton. Cordia is getting better with every game and their quickness will be a factor. Hazard has Big Al who can put together a game plan to spoil any competitor's night. The draw could be very important.

Good points. Also a factor to include with Cordia is they will have Chapman back from suspension for the region. Perry Central's gym seats 4,000 and I would think that most nights should be a packed house. They have a good facility and parking, so I may try to go a couple of nights.

WOW!!!! How did they lose that big of a lead?
2-3-Zone Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 WOW!!!! How did they lose that big of a lead? Settled for a lot of jump shots and ton of missed free throws. KCC also ate Cordia alive on second chance points. Hall got a lot of his points off putbacks from crashing the boards.
