I think the 8th region is down this year compared to the past few years. I still think Collins is the team to beat.

Congrats on the GC win! Maybe next time Steiner will re-think sending his assistant coaches out to scout during a district game. Hopefully for his sake....his coaches were scouting a team that Won their district since SK is going to be playing a district winner. Karma bits! :lol2:

Maybe someone on here (Clyde? Talking to you, here!) can explain the situation after the technical. Here's the situation, the best I can recall...

 

Ball under basket is tied up. Official on baseline calls for jump ball. Arrow in favor of Grant County. After the call, the SK player involved in the tie-up gets whistled for a T (I believe by the same official) for throwing an elbow. So, two free throws and the ball, correct? Well, Grant County shot the two technical and then inbounded the ball at mid-court. The weird thing is, though, that after the in-bounds, they changed the possession arrow. Grant County fans went nuts.

 

I'm assuming that the arrow changed, simply because it would have on the next possession, prior to the technical. If the original arrow had been in favor of SK, Grant would've still inbounded after the T, and it would've been changed to Grant's favor then, correct? As it was, it just appeared that Grant lost out on part of the technical...they didn't get to benefit from the arrow, the way they would have under normal play.

I honestly wasn't sure. At first, my thought was it shouldn't change. But, then I wasn't so sure. The second paragraph in my previous post was the only logical explanation that I could come up with.

Its a sign of competitive districts. All four of these districts had at least two legitimate district contenders. Of the four districts, three of the district champs were 2-seeds. Owen County was the only top seed to win theirs, and they needed a last second put back.

 

Region is a little down, and the 8th region draw at the state tournament is tough, but Henry County will be entertaining as it always is.

Since the jump ball was called, that would cause the change of possession arrow. The technical foul was called after the jump ball was called, and doesn't negate the jump ball call. IMO

I too thought Madman and Clyde were correct! With how the play unfolded, Grant was penalized and shouldn't have been. Good thing the pa didn't come in to play after this point. Not calling out the officials BUT, 3 veterans, one of which called the girls state tourney several years ago, couldn't

get it right! Good luck to both teams in the region

The officials discussed this for at least 3 minutes and then went to the score table twice. Not sure what was said. The free throws on the T were shot, balls inbounded from mid court and then the arrow gets switched.

 

In addition the T happened on the baseline. When the ball was inbounded, was mid court the proper spot for Grant to inbound it?
