thsrocks Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Wow. Male trailed by 7 in the first half and beat the Tigers in double-OT. That avenges their 2OT loss to St. Xavier earlier this year. Assuming Trinity handles Waggener Friday night, a one in three chance exists for St. Xavier drawing the Shamrocks in the first round of the Seventh Region tourney.
silo11 Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 This looks like it was another great game between these two teams. Wish I could have been there to watch.
Getslow Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 After all the hand-wringing all season long, Male has won a district title and will likely get one of the following three teams in its first regional game: Central, Waggener or Eastern. Not one of them is unbeatable for Male (they're likely a favorite against Central and Waggener) and if the pairings toss Trinity and Ballard in the same bracket, Male, at 16-15, looking mediocre for much of the year, could find themselves in a position to make a run to the Seventh Region championship game. St. Xavier, on the other hand, is likely staring at a 66 percent chance of a Trinity or Ballard first round game.

And remember the first round of the region is being played on the district winners home floor. You could have StX playing at Trinity.......that place is not big enough for that game.....lol

We wondered if Bellarmine was a possibility if that happened. Have to imagine that if Knights Hall is open, it'll be moved, right?

Even though Trinity is the better team, anything can happen this time of year.

T (and all the other district winners) has earned the right to play at home.

T (and all the other district winners) has earned the right to play at home. Several years ago (Dave Aberli was still the coach) Trinity and X played in a regional first round game at X. The place was packed to the gills and the atmosphere was intense. If that match-up does happen I hope the play at Steinhauser. I for one hope it doesn't happen. I hope that Trinity is playing Eastern at Steinhauser Tuesday because that would mean Trinity and Ballard are on opposite sides of the regional bracket and couldn't face each other before the championship game.
LongTimeReader Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 I remember that game All Tell, I believe it was freshmen year at X. It was going to be tough for X to make it out of the region, but finishing runner up in the district is going to make it even that much harder. For X to advance they have to find a way to finish teams off when they have the opportunity.
faxisfax Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 They had a 9 point lead with under 3 minutes to go in regulation against Male last night. I am hoping for a Saint X Trinity matchup in the first round of the region! I remember that game All Tell, I believe it was freshmen year at X. citycat Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Anyone know when the draw for the region is?
Getslow Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Anyone know when the draw for the region is? Should be early afternoon on Sunday. If memory serves that's the usual time. Something like 1 pm.
tcjkbt Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 There is a lot of speculating going on here. T has to beat Waggener on the road tonight before a possible T-X matchup in the first round could occur. Let's not put the cart before the horse.

But while I'm not saying its impossible, after watching Waggener play Seneca Wednesday night I would be shocked if they beat Trinity.
