Know It All Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 “I would return any money that was associated with Clinton, because I think he’s a bad role model for the workplace, for women’s rights, for all of that,” Paul said. “I think really, frankly, they ought to be a little embarrassed to be associated or being seen with him.” Read more: Paul slams Clinton-Grimes event - Andrea Drusch - POLITICO.com :lol2: How can the left champion "women's rights" and associate with a man who as President had sexual relations with an intern? Thoughts?

Thoughts? While I lost a lot of respect for Clinton after the affair and (what looked to me) the fake contrition he showed, I am not sure I would put infidelity in the same bucket with women's rights. I don't think cheating on your wife necessarily violates women's rights overall.
Voice of Reason Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 Does Rand Paul consider himself a Tea Party politician?
SportsGuy41017 Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 How can the left champion "women's rights" and associate with a man who as President had sexual relations with an intern? Thoughts? Did he rape Monica? I don't think so, so therefor it's business between two consenting adults and has nothing to downtime "woman's rights". Way too many people in this country are too uptight about sex..... Paul is talking so Mitch doesn't have to, in hopes if the message isn't received well that Mitch won't lose numbers in the polls.
rockmom Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 Oh wow....some people have no idea of what women's rights are, or what the women's rights issues actually are. :ohbrother: THIS, my friends, is why the fight is never over for equality for any minority.

You don't consider sexual harassment in the workplace a violation of women's rights?
Getslow Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 I'll give it to Rand Paul... he's got chutzpah. A Republican trying to court the NAACP and the women's rights movement.
Bert Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 You don't consider sexual harassment in the workplace a violation of women's rights? If his sexual advances towards Monica were unwanted sure but..........sounds like Monica didn't object.
Bert Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 THIS, my friends, is why the fight is never over for equality for any minority. I don't see this as a slap in the face of equality, I see it as trying to stretch the definition of sexual harassment further than what it really is.
Bert Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 A Republican trying to court the NAACP and the women's rights movement. Is he trying to court the NAACP or reaching out to black leaders who have the greatest likelihood of finding common ground with the GOP such as Dr. Kevin Cosby of St. Stephens Baptist and the President of Simmons Bible College? I don't believe the NAACP and Dr. Cosby see eye to eye on many issues.
75center Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 I absolutely agree with Paul as to being a bad role model for the workplace but women's rights would be a much bigger jump than taking advantage of your power and position to have sex with someone, or would that come under infringing on women's rights? If the power position was a woman would it fall under infringing on men's rights?
rockmom Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 I don't see this as a slap in the face of equality, I see it as trying to stretch the definition of sexual harassment further than what it really is. Then either Paul has no clue what issues constitute women's rights or he is a rabble rouser. Either way,it is indicative of his appeal to those who have no inclination to delve for the truth. The opening post illustrates that. That is a slap in the face to women's rights to me. Whether it's intentional or ignorance is immaterial. The fact is, the real issues are being misconstrued.

Whether it's intentional or ignorance is immaterial. The fact is, the real issues are being misconstrued. I may have to retract what I said. I talked to a friend of mine which has worked all her professional career in human resources and in many companies and in some states of law, a superior having relations with a subordinate COULD be seen as sexual harassment due to the superior being in a power position over the subordinate. I don't agree with this but, no company or government asked for my opinion. So it could be argued that Rand Paul was correct and we were wrong.

But that would still be harassment if the gender and roles were reversed. Sexual Harassment is not a "women's rights" issue.
