All Tell Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 I'm making what is becoming an annual trek to NYC during spring break. Anyone have any recommendations for eateries in or around Times Square and the World Trade Center?

Getslow Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 Two blocks off times square at 42nd Street and 9th, Shorty's. If you like Philly-style sandwiches, it's a great place in the area. Get the roast pork special. That's really the only place I've eaten near Times Square except at the ESPN Zone, but it was a really good sandwich.
All Tell Posted February 25, 2014 Author Posted February 25, 2014 Thanks GS, I'll keep that in mind. This will be my 3rd trip and I've been to some really good places based on suggestions the past 2 trips. You can't hardly walk 3 feet in Times Square without passing a food place. Just looking to see places other people have been that they liked.

TheDeuce Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 There are some GREAT local pizza places. Joes pizza is fantastic. 7 Carmine St, New York, NY 10014 The best piece of pizza I've ever had in my life was in NYC, but I don't remember where I got it.
paNDA Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 There is a hotel (Renaissance) that faces Times Square, giant window right behind the seating area. Great breakfast with a view like no other. Second floor, it is amazing. And the breakfast is to die for.
Getslow Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 The best piece of pizza I've ever had in my life was in NYC, but I don't remember where I got it. All I've done every time I've been to New York was eat great food and drink good booze. For the life of me, I can't ever remember the places I have it. I think the second pastime may have affected my ability to recall the locations of either.
paNDA Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 Most interesting NYC fact, 100+ of the pizza parlors there advertise they have the best pizza in the world. And I think they are all right!
All Tell Posted February 25, 2014 Author Posted February 25, 2014 I went to a place the last time that was near the World Trade Center that literally had everything. You could get pizza, deli sandwiches, fresh baked goods, Asian, chopped salads, a regular salad bar and so on. From the outside you wouldn't know what it was but the tour bus driver pointed it out when we stopped. For the life of me I can't understand with all of the great places to eat there why anyone would ever choose a chain restaurant.
paNDA Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 Those double deck tour buses are great, thought I would hate it but it really was informative.

All Tell Posted February 25, 2014 Author Posted February 25, 2014 Those double deck tour buses are great, thought I would hate it but it really was informative. Best money I spent. And very reasonable as well. Last year it was only $65.00 for a three day on/off pass that included the uptown and downtown tours, the tour of Brooklyn and the Bronx and the night tour. I highly recommend it.
Clyde Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 Same here. I think I are Johns Pizza in Times Square also and it was delicious. This is the one I was going to recommend as well. John's Pizzeria If you cross the Brooklyn Bridge you can go to Grimaldi's. Brooklyn
