There is no doubt that the homecourt advangtage goes to Mason County. I really don't see how you can't give Montogomery a chase when they get the new gym built. Just like you have to give our district a chase to host when NKU builds the new areana on Campus. That areana will be located in the Campbell County School District which makes it a 10th Region Site. Even in Campbell County, it would be true neutral site.

The new NKU arena will present an interesting option when it comes time for the 37th (or maybe even the 38th) district's turn to host!!

I am a big fan of playing in the the Fieldhouse, but I think since they have went back to the session games like last year that Montgomery Co can handle the crowed. Camel1 has a point about the new arena in Northern KY. Not sure what the seating capacity is but it is in Campbell Co. which has teams in the 10th Region.

The only reason to move it is to get Mason off their home floor every year.Everything else considered Maysville is the place to have it,but it does give the Royals a big advantage.Now if they didn't have a good team every year it would be no problem.

The tourney should never be moved from Mason Co. Too much tradition in the place. It wouldn't be the same.

It shouldn't be about tradition it should be about making the tourney as fair and equal for every participant in the region, and as stated earlier in the thread there have been very many, many years Mason would,ve won regardless of where it was.

Moving the 10th region tourney would be crazy. The first point you have to make is location. What gym is as centrally located? Second you have to look at seating. The last time the region was held at Clark not everyone got in the gym. This region is very spread out and Mason has the best venue. Maybe someone could look at letting district winners host first round games since attendance is not always as good but when the semi finals and finals roll around the fieldhouse is packed and few regional tournaments have a better atmosphere. For once I say I have to agree with mhighfield and sumoroyal on this issue (did I say that haha). The people from NKY don't want to travel 2 hours to go to a gym where they may not even get a seat. Mason and the city of Maysville always do a great job hosting the 10th region tournament whoever wins. I don't see other regions complain when the regional tournament is held at the same place year in year out. The 10th regions best option is to stay at Mason Co.

What about parking at Montgomery County? Also, if NKU builds such a great place to play with large seating why wouldn't the 9th region play there instead of the 10th region?

I'm orginally from Campbell Co. and I say leave the regional in Maysville or give Montgomery Co. a shot. I never have seen the level of excitement that is seen at the Fieldhouse, maybe it could be duplicated at NKU, but I doubt it. Leave things alone, its great the way it is.

Maybe the years that Mason has an average team they could play at Maysville,and the years they have a good team they could play in Mt Sterling.I like the tournament at Mason its close to home for me,but it does give them an advantage every year doesn't it.

 

So what are they gonna say? Oh, well Mason has a good team this year so let's not play it there? OR Mason's not doing so hot this year so it will be okay to have it at the Fieldhouse.

 

I think that it's the best gym to have it in and can accomodate all of the people wanting to watch.
