spindoc Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 1. Ballard 2. Scott County 3. Hopkinsville 4. Newport Central Catholic 5. Trinity 6. Covington Catholic 7. Lafayette 8. Wayne County 9. Knott County Central 10. Perry County Central 11. Lincoln County 12. Pleasure Ridge Park 13. Doss 14. Holmes 15. Cordia 16. Elizabethtown 17. Montgomery County 18. Collins 19. Hazard 20. Warren Central
Getslow Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Top 5 is pretty solid. Trinity has four losses to Kentucky competition this year: two to Ballard and one each to Scott County and now NCC. Unbeaten against all other Kentucky competition. Just have not had enough scoring in games against the top teams in the state.
EQUUS GREVYI Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Scott County is on an impressive roll right now. I wonder if they might deserve the top spot. I'm not sure that I would have Hopkinsville ahead of NCC at this point. They have top 25 wins over Lafayette and Etown while NCC has top 25 wins over Trinity, Knott County Central, PRP, Holmes and Cordia. Hoptown beat Lafayette who beat NCC. NCC beat Ft. Myers Florida who beat Hopkinsville. I wish CovCath had a better "in state" schedule so you could get a better feel for where they fit.
Rez Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Looks very good. I'm not sure that Etown still belongs. Taylor Co might be the best team in that region. I think I would drop Etown out and move Taylor Co. to 20.
groinpull Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Maybe you can't put too much into playing common opponents but I see Trinity beat St. X by 8.........and lost to NCC. CCH dismantled St. X pretty easily. Final margin was 22 but if I recall it was almost 30 at some point. They were up on NCC at half. I think ranking them 5 or 6 is about right. I still think getting out of the region for them will be a tough task. Hoping they have not peaked too early based on the last few games.

Let's not be too hasty on using a Trinity/St. X score as evidence for much of anything. It's very rare that game isn't competitive the whole way through, regardless of what kind of a season each team is having. Both sides are pretty revved up.
spindoc Posted February 19, 2014 Author Posted February 19, 2014 As to Scott Co #1, they squeeked by Eastern at Eastern. No disrespect, but Remy Abell and crew didn't roll out there for Eastern last night. I think they're pretty solid where they're at.

They've lost to one Kentucky team all season: PRP... in an overtime game... which was their second overtime game in 12 hours... which was against rival Trinity.

And for the record, I'm in the camp that Hoptown could easily be #2. It's a gut thing, because we all look for record assimilation and there simply aren't any geographically. But other than a mild victory last night, they've been waxing everyone in their path. I can't wait to see how the big show plays out.

I agree Ballard is number one in state no doubt! The 3 past it is almost how a single person wants to rank them.
