February 5, 201412 yr Author We are America and have our values and culture. When we start letting other groups do this then little by little we begin to lose our identity and culture. Everything in life isnt fair and doesnt have to be. Next we wil begin allowing Muslims to be tried by Sharia Law instead of our laws in America.

The "true" Americans said the same thing in the latter 1800's when immigrants from Ireland, Germany, Poland, Italy, etc. started coming into the country and bringing their European faith (Catholicism) with them. The true Americans thought those Papists would never integrate into American culture but certainly would be loyal to Rome instead of America. And heaven forbid when one of their type ran for president (Al Smith) and then later, one was elected president (JFK). Then after it was all said and done, people realized they did integrate into American culture and in some ways added to the culture. Down the road, in the future, my guess is Americans will look at the way many current Americans view Mexican, Muslim, etc. immigration and think it is as strange as how we look at those "true" Americans in the late 1800's. I always thought Louisville's government was seen as a Stong Mayor type government unlike say Lexington's where I believe their legislature really has the power and the Mayor is almost seen as a member of that body.

Good Friday is probably the most universally celebrated holiday in Western nations. It is a national holiday in much, if not almost all of Europe. Global IT people know this... because it makes for the best 3 day weekend for system conversions for large global applications.

Global IT people know this... because it makes for the best 3 day weekend for system conversions for large global applications. I've not had a Good Friday off in 30 years. A couple of years ago, Hillsborough County did not close schools on Good Friday. The absenteeism was such that they decided to have a 'Non-student Day' each year which coincides with Good Friday. It's considered and in-service day, though, and teachers still are obligated to come to work. Most other county agencies remain open for business, as well.

We got rid of the hats and the buckles but still do holidays like a bunch of stone-faced puritans. And we do Christmas totally reversed. Nobody works on Christmas Eve and most people are back to work on the 26th... that's backwards, American dunderheads.
