Misunderstood you there. For what it's worth, I'm not here ragging on the GOP. I'm a registered independent, but the majority of the time, the GOP gets my vote. Regardless, I think in a lot of cases, the GOP needs to pull their heads out of their rear ends when it comes to environmental issues. I don't know, really, if this fish should really be an environmental issue. I don't know the real implications of a minnow that is already on the endangered species list disappearing, nor do I know that the lake going up or staying down will have much of anything to do with it. All I can say is....here we have Mitch, once again, crying about financial gain over (what is at least published to be) an environmental protection issue.

I agree, all I have read is that this fish was found in the head waters of Lake Cumberland and it is on the endangered species list. As such any change in it's habitat COULD threaten it's survival. Putting aside that it has survived in this river/lake system for ever with changing lake and river levels.

Playing devil's advocate here... Could the 62 years of Lake Cumberland's existence and its changing lake and river levels be exactly how it wound up on the endangered species list?

It's been on the list since 1993 and after researching a little it seems it was know to have been in this river system and others in surrounding states since at least 93.

March 30, 201412 yr Goin down Thursday. Kinda excited Where do you put in. I have always put in at Alligator 1 or 2. I haven't been down there in several years. I'm thinking real seriously about going down on the eighth. Gotta find someone to go with me. My wife is going to Vegas, so it's my chance.

A huge rock formation that I never knew existed right in the middle of Fishing Creek, until the water level dropped, is about 1-2 foot under now. You'd never see it until you hit it, I'm sure there are others.

You'd never see it until you hit it, I'm sure there are others. Yep, there's one in Beaver that I bet is a hidden gem also. We will likely stay at the bottom of the lake this week. Hoping for some solid temps to raise the water temp. If it gets to 57, it's on like donkey kong. Plus we will be chasing any turkey who is dumb enough to gobble close to the water's edge and on corps property.
