January 8, 201412 yr The 75th induction class: We already know about Bobby Cox, Tony LaRussa, and Joe Torre, joining those 3 living managers are 3 living players in Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine, and Frank Thomas. Maddux did not break Seaver's record for highest percentage. Craig Biggio missed by 2 votes, he received 74.8% of the 571 votes. Glavine received around 91% and Frank Thomas around 83%. Both Bonds and Clemens lost support as did Jack Morris who now goes to the Veteran's Committee. Curt Schilling also lost percentage points and Mike Mussina only appeared on 20% of the ballots. Very interesting results to say the least

How Biggio, Bagwell, Piazza, and Raines don't get in is simply absurd. Biggio? I don't know what more he could have done to get in. Bagwell, fairly or (mostly) unfairly was a well put together guy during the steroid era. Same w/ Piazza (the greatest offensive catcher of the modern era). Raines' drug issues probably hurt his chances. W/ that said, this is completely unfair to players who played during the late 90s-early 00s. Bagwell may be borderline, but Piazza is a no doubt HOFer. If they have no evidence that he did steroids, I mean none, how can they keep them out? I think that most of these guys will get voted in by a Veteran's Committee in 15 years, and this era of voter will be remembered in a very less than favorable light. The same writers who pumped up guys they suspected of steroid use, are now playing the role of moral superior. Absolute joke.
