You can add a lot of other bad decisions that list.

 

There were plenty of mistakes but those 3 stood out because Cordia had a chance to put the game away. They were up 3 and had the rebound in hand when they fouled the 3-point shooter. It kills me to see a team take a end-of-game shot with more than 2-3 seconds to go. That should never happen under any circumstance.

Great game. Still wondering what Cordia was thinking defending the play that sent it into the 2nd OT. Cunningham guarding McDonald on the block and Keita with Schuelte at the top of the key.

Did Cordia have a TO left when McDonald sent the game to the last OT? If so , you HAVE to take one there and change your D.

 

Great call by Coach Dawn and , obviously, great finish by Drew.

 

Don't know about the TO. Nice call by Dawn but they gifted that one to NCC.

Cunningham guarded McDonald most of the game. Gave up about 6 inches at least. Surprised McDonald didn't have 30+.

 

I like McDonald a lot.

Imagining what Cordia would be like with Chris Hudson, who is a legit 6'7, 220+ is scary. What they'd look like with Hines, Ortiz, and Chapman is as well though.

As I heard from quite afew of the NewCath faithful, that was somewhat painful to sit through this afternoon. However, the Breds didn't give up and CONGRATS on scratchin' and clawin' your way back for a hard fought victory.

 

Hats off to Cordia, they forced the Breds into playing their (Cordia's) game. Very impressive games from Anthony Tagaloa, J.J. Catchings, & Christen Cunningham.

As I mentioned in the update thread, before the ref handed the ball to the NCC guy on that last play, Happy Osborne said, "Lob to the big boy" or something along those lines.

 

Cordia did make several mental mistakes, but I was impressed by them.

 

First time seeing NCC as well. Those bigs are something to be dealt with. Really like McDonald's touch.

If Cordia didn't take so many quick 3's, they are a top 10 team easy.

The group that I was sitting with from NCC seemed to find this a nice challenge for the Breds and entertaining yesterday. Cordia is a talented athletic team that did make mistakes, but IMO it was due to a number of adjustments that Coach Dawn had made by mixing up the defenses and by making very timely time out calls, helped play a big part in the outcome of this game.

 

The play of Weyer and McDonald today was very impressive. Weyer continues to get better as each game goes and he is maturing into a very nice player to compliment Schulte and McDonald. Knocking down the FT's late in the game shows this. The play of McDonald after a bit of a rough start was very impressive. Drew missed a couple of early shots early, but he made the necessary adjustments and in the second half seemed to just take over. As Randy P pointed out Drews touch around the basket is nice but there were other things that Drew did that help keep the Breds in the game. Down 4 late in the game Drew showed his range when knocking down the 3 when it was most needed in a pressure situtation and then very late in the game in OT he showed that he can play D also when he created the Cordia player to walk on a rebound on the NCC baseline which let to a key NCC basket. Its the little things like this that sometimes go unnoticed but have a direct impact to the game. The Moeves brothers are making their presence felt also.

 

While this was a entertaining game to watch, its easy to see that NCC is not hitting on all cylinders at this point and when they do look out. Good teams find a way to win the close ones in December and I feel by watching this game yesterday the best is still yet to come. Coach Dawn is one of the best when it comes to having his teams play their best at tourney time. He is allowing his teams to play thru situations at this point to season them for district and regional play and while at times the coaches in the stands may get frustrated with his game plan or on certain adjustments, Coach is one of the best in teaching the game to these young men. This group will be fun to watch as the season continues and IMO I feel there best ball is still ahead of them. No matter what the results are at this time of the year, I am sure that very valuable lessons will be taught and learned to prepare his team for the late season run. While regular season records are impressive and nice to have, all records go back to 0-0 when the district play comes around and it gets down to one and out.

Also, wanted to add that I like Cathcings' game. He's got handle for sure.

 

From what I saw today, is it fair to say that:

 

1.) #5 for Cordia fouling out really effected the intensity of their full-court man pressure?

2.) Austin Combs didn't have his best game shooting the ball?

3.) Keita has some problems communicating with this teammates at this moment in time?
