US Bank "Mike Murphy" Classic @ Mason County Dec.18-21

10thRegionBanquet-MikeMurphy-2010-2-BGP.jpgMike Murphy was very much a part of the landscape of the Fieldhouse. He also was the Royals baseball head coach.

I never fail to think of Murph whenever I pass behind the scorers table at the Fieldhouse. There was also another gentleman whose name escapes me, who also served as a preacher, who passed away around the same time that we lost Murph. He was also a member of the "A" team of himself, Murph, Sumo, and the greatest Fieldhouse announcer ever -Jim Wallingford (???). Photo is of Mike Murphy.

Sorry the photo is so large. If a mod knows how to downsize it, feel free.

No doubt you're thinking of Danny Boyd.

Wasn't it Marty Wallingford?

Yes.

^ Good evening everyone & welcome to The Fieldhouse!

It never fails when I walk in there for a game with my brother,

he'll say those exact words every time.

I've said them myself a time or two thousand.

I would bet 50 to 1 he'll say it to me tonight as well.

Yes and yes to Danny Boyd. I didn't think Jim was right when I posted it - Ergo the question marks. His voice still resonates in my mind.
