I was not at the game as I was down the road at CCH but it was my understanding the ball hit the support pole for the net, which sits about 2 feet outside the foul pole. A ball cannot hit that pole and be fair. The umpire then told the Dixie catcher "I'll get you guys back for that one".

I was at the game because Cooper was playing the game after that game and it was pretty bad call. The ball wasn't even close to being fair and if it is the game I'm thinking of the ball hit the telephone pole several feet foul.

 

I will add it was an awesome game if that is the same game. The fair/foul homer came like the last or second to last inning of the game to break up a tie.

Bellew walked off the basketball court stone cold and was gunned at 86mph at a Flames showcase without a winter pitching program because of the hoops, we all know what Ethan Bennan did in the regional. Jeremy Downs following in his brother's foot steps with more velo pitching lights out in Pastime tourneys including the 17u national championships signing with IU Southeast as a pitcher I believe. Forbes pitched for Mullins in the Champions fall league making the showcase and the All-Star team pitching 2 innings of 5 strike out baseball setting 85 in a tourney in TN. That still leaves Mac Welsh who shut out the Midland Redskins for 6 innings during the summer before moving to pitch for them. That's leaving out Colt Cordery, set out last year recovering from a football injury. There should be 3 pitchers moving up from JV who can contribute right away. Should be a much improved rotation. But to be honest Brown, Heppler, Schmall and Lawler with his sidearm delivery will make Cov Cath hard to beat in the region.

Colt actually didn't play football since freshman year, it was an pitching injury. I love that kid and he would of been a starting pitcher on a lot of other teams his sophomore year but Ryle varsity was loaded with pitching so his junior year is when he p,ayed varsity but didn't pitch due to his surgery. I also don't think he will be pitching this year either. Unfortunatley due to his injuries and surgery pies I think that ship has sailed for the kid, but he is a helluva baseball p,Ayer and p,ays 3rd fairly well and has a lot of pop off the bat at the plate.

I hope so too. He has some nasty stuff and can bring it. He's worked so hard and has had some terrible luck when it comes to injuries. I'd love to see him with a great senior season.

Regarding Cov Cath piching, Matt Schmahl decided not to play baseball this year and his shoulder injury preventing him from pitching anway. Ben Heppler struggled last season due to a shoulder injury and his status as a pitcher is unknown. Senior Jake Tomlin returns after Tommy John surgery and has a quality arm. Colonels will need pitchers to emerge from kids who did not pitch much on Varsity last season.

I am going to miss seeing Schmahl play, he is a competitor, but overlooked by Krump last year. Its good to hear Tomlin will be back to full strength and taking the hill. Pope will add protection for Schiever if he hits like he did in the Champions fall league and Adkinson will flash power this year. Brown could hit 5 with his ability to spray the ball around with occasional big bang potential. After another year of Velocity training at the Freedom could make him even more dangerous on the mound. Cov Cath should have another run in the regional tourney and have another good year.
