There's always a lot of talk about who the best team in the state is, even after the finals. This year, I think most would agree that Bowling Green is the best team this year. While I don't know if it could ever be worked out due to how late in the year the season always finishes, but I think it would be awesome if all six state champions could play to determine who is truly the best in the state.

 

Is there any scenario that this could be worked out? Do you think every team that wins State would want to participate? Discuss.

No! And why? So a bunch of people from BGP can pound their chest and say their kid is the best. Hahahaha, then why would we need BGP. Bet you Guru would hate it.

Maybe not where you take the winners each season and pair up them, it would be too difficult logistically with scheduling commitments. But like the Champion's Classic you could take 2 or 4 schools and match them up for one game at the start of the next season and rotate the teams they play in a similar format.

Yep, just like the Champion's Classic. Thinking bigger schools you have BG, Highlands, and Trinity/St. X/Male (all are in district so you can only take 1 of them). So who would the other team be? I guess you could make it a district game just for that season.

Mayfield would be the easy choice in 1A. I'm not very familiar with 2A and 3A.

Indiana used to do this in basketball, may still do it I don't know, but I know it always seemed to be a bad way for the 1A champion to end their season getting blown out by the 4A champion a week after winning the state title.

You could have a "little school" 2 game slate on Friday night and a "big school" 2 game slate on Saturday night.

Only difficulty is scheduling. Teams are generally locked in to 2 year commitments so schedules are often predetermined a couple years in advance.

But then you are not really finding out who is the best.

1st off, if you are waiting until the next season to play then you are playing with teams totally different from the championship teams. The Seniors are all graduated, you have a new crop of sophomores on each team etc.

 

You need to look no further than Collins this year. Collins team this year was totally different fromt eh team they put ont he field last year and lost 47-0 to Highlands.

Games like that would mean nothing. It wouldn't tell you who the best team is or anything close to that.
