1a - Union City 23 S.Pittsburg 14 ... Union City lost it's season opener and then ran off 13 straight wins to win the title. This would be a good prospective future matchup team for Mayfield or Murray, as they're only 30 miles down the road. You Bell Co fans are familiar with South Pittsburg, as that was your season opener this year with S.Pitt taking that one 35-20. S.Pitt ended there season at 12-2.

3a - Alcoa 25 CPA 7 ... After winning 6 straight 2a titles, then a 2 year hiatus from a title, Alcoa claimed a 3a championship. Alcoa ended the season at 14-1 with it's only loss to 6a power Maryville in the 2nd game of the season. CPA, out of Nashville, had it's run at an undefeated season fall 1 game short, ending at 14-1on the season.

5a - Henry Co 28 Knox West 27 ... Henry Co ended a dream season undefeated at 15-0 to take the crown. West ended there season at 13-2. Henry Co, out of Paris, Tn would be another West Tn team that a McCracken Co or Bowling Green may want to look up for a game or 2 down the road. Just an hour down the road from Paducah and less than 2 hrs from BGreen and a traditional powerhouse program.

In Saturdays matchup:

2a - Adamsville vs Trousdale Co

4a - Giles Co vs Knox Fulton

6a - Hendersonville vs Maryville

On Thursday night, Ensworth took out MUS(Memphis Univ School) 27-10 in the DII AA Big school private division. Ensworth ended the season at 11-1, while MUS fell to 10-3 with the loss. In the DII A Small school division, Knoxville Webb defeated St George's 28-14.

Ole Trousdale, we have had some battles with that bunch. Union City won't play us. We played them a few times in the 90's and they didn't like the results.

Hey Snakesnot, I know Trousdale has a good program down there just like Mayfield. Are you scheduled for any games with them in the near future?

We have played them about 4 or 5 times losing once, I think. The last time we played was 2009 at Graves County in a Bowl game. We beat them after we came back from a 21 pt deficit and there were a few calls in the game that went our way but Trousdale got all snitty about the game, they had big win streak going and had won a few State Titles in a roll and I think there is a little bad blood at this point. I wouldn't mind playing them, they are usually very tough and a good indicator of where you are .

I guess the answer is no, at least to my knowledge

They won the 1a title the year before & the 2a title the year you won. A few calls not going your way just might make you snitty...lol.

Looks like you have played 3 times.

1999..2000...2009. TC won in 1999. Mayfield in 2000 & 2009.

Trousdale Co played Warren Central in 2010 in the Fruit A Balloon Bowl game and WC won but it was a close game until late. Trousdale Co is as tough as they come for a little guy. I highly respect what they accomplish given how small they are.

Henry Co. is only 15 miles out of Murray and only about 40 from Mayfield and Union City, as previously mentioned is only about 25 miles from Mayfied. We have played both at times but neither lately. I don't think Union City would be able to play us and I am not sure we could play with Henry Co this year. Pretty cool though having so many state champs right here in a close but rural area

I was pulling for Hendersonville, hate to see they lost. My brother-in-law lives in Hendersonville and that's where my niece went to school. We were there for thanksgiving and she told me they made it to state. I didn't give them of a chance once I saw they were playing Maryville.

Hendersonville had a great year making it to title game. Beech...Station Camp...and Gallatin are all in Sumner County. All have had great teams lately.

Union City was pretty good. They lost their first game & won 13 straight. Henry County went 15-0. The game with Knoxville West was a great game.

I am very familiar with that area. There were some great teams this year.

Knoxville Fulton finished unbeaten and scored over 860 points this year -- fourth most in NATIONAL history. Christian County held them to 61 in the last week of the regular season

Toothpick, I remember the week prior to semi-final week the Mayfield/WKY area hosted 4 games right in a tight area (P Tilman, Mayfield, Graves Co, and Caldwell Co. Really good football you're way this year!

Another great year for Sumner County football. Hendersonville is our #1 rival but I have a ton of respect for Coach Hatfield and their program. We (Beech) had a rough year with injuries but still made the playoffs. Station Camp had a great year, also. As a county, we've had 2 Class 5A Championships and two Runners-Up finishes in the past four years. Two major D1 prospects this season, etc.

Wish there was more play between programs in middle TN and KY.

Toothpick: We've played Henry Co. the past three years in the regular season. They really have their program at the top of the mountain in Class 5A.

That they do, and they think they will again next year in talking with some of their folks that work up here
