Does anyone watch this? I just started Season 1 last week and ended up watching all 13 episodes in a day. HBOGO is for champs.

I legitimately think this is going to be better than Breaking Bad (which I've watched in it's entirety).

 

Lots of the legal stuff in it seems way more accurate than in tv shows (talking about standards for wire taps, getting affidavits from witnesses, probable cause on stops, etc.).

Watched the entire series over the summer when I got HBO. Loved the show, one of my favorites ever.

Really, the Wire is perfect. It was the best show I'd seen until Breaking Bad. I can't compare or rank them, they are just on higher levels of anything that's ever been on the screen.

Just out of curiosity, did you watch Breaking Bad, and if so (and you've seen every episode), what's your favorite season?

 

Mine is Season 4 with 'Salud' being my favorite.

Am I the only one here who sees a character from Oz (have seen every episode of it) and can't suspend disbelief because I only think of them in that role?

 

Seriously? I see Schillinger in a State Farm commercial on local TV and think of him bending Beecher over in a bunk and don't really think of wanting to buy insurance.

 

I say this because Kenny "Bricks" Wangler from Oz (and others) are on The Wire (at least from what I've seen so far). I think the guy that plays Omar and the guy who plays one of the lead detective in Season 1 was on Oz as well (lead detective is the guy who goes undercover on Oz faking the Jamaican accent and gets hooked on drugs doing controlled buys when he gets pressed into doing it to prove himself IIRC).

Lots of crossover between the two shows. That's Lieutenant Daniels in the last example.

Habib nailed it. The Wire is the best thing ever filmed.

Season 4 was my favorite season of The Wire. It is my favorite show ever by far. Nothing else comes close. I am getting started on Breaking Bad.

 

Don't fret about the seasons. All of them are spectacular. I need to order the entire series.

Absurd. Every season of the Wire has been my favorite at some point or another, but seasons four and three are consistently my top two. Season 5 is the only one I don't favor much.
