December 5, 201312 yr I have heard good things. I bought one for my wife for Christmas. I currently have a Roku and love it. I am interested in this as it is smaller and portable.
February 5, 201412 yr Any updates on this? I've heard people rave about it, but I'm still not quite clear what its utility is. I know you can watch Netflix or YouTube with it. Is it just a lite version of Roku or Apple TV then?
February 5, 201412 yr Works best with Android phones and tablets via google play. You can cast just about anything to your TV. iPhones can't really do much with it yet. Pretty much just net flicks and youtube.

I've been using it a lot recently to go through the YouTube archives of The Chris Gethard show. It's a call-in show featuring a lot of comedians, musical act and comedy bits. It was recently picked up for a pilot by Comedy Central, but it's been on Manhattan public access TV in New York since 2011. Much more pleasant going through that archive on TV than on a computer screen.

It also doesn't have a lot of apps it works with on Apple devices yet. Love the concept.
February 5, 201412 yr ^ Google is definitely taking care of its own first. If functionality with Apple products improves, it'll be great. I don't say this often, but I'm actually disappointed with how slowly progress has been on TV/internet integration.
February 6, 201412 yr My wife bought me one for Christmas and I haven't taken it out of the box yet. I don't fully understand what it's function is going to do for me and I haven't had the time to play around with it yet.

Meaning, unlike the Amazon fire stick, there is no remote control. So if you skip wifi and plug directly into the chromecast, how do you 'remote control' the content?

July 9, 201511 yr Author Gotcha. The obvious answer that I completely ignored. It's new so I doubt many are using the remote yet.
July 10, 201511 yr I love it! Use it to watch college basketball games that are only streaming on the internet. Push to the TV and I'm good to go.
