I'd hope they would have to shake hands. And so show respect for the other team even if you dislike them.

What is alarming to me is when after a game I (as a coach of a youth team) line my boys up and shake hands with the opposing team and some of the boys (on other team) do not shake my hand. I think that is very alarming and shows very poor sportsmanship. I watch all of my players and if I ever saw them not slap skins with other team, especially the coach I would go ballistic.

YES! It is only courteous and sets a good example. But I don't guess there is anything to require it!

As a coach, would'nt you want to teach Sportsmanship??

This is a no brainer!! Even if there is a grudge, one should shake hands. Even if it is out of spite!!

On the high school level (or anything below that) then I think they definitely should.

 

On the college scene, if a coach feels it necessary not to shake the other coach's hand then so be it. Not exactly classy, but a different situation and environment IMO.

In Kentucky High School Basketball after the dust has cleared and the contest is over, should the leaders of the programs Shake Hands. I think so! Your Thoughts!

 

Absolutley, It shows class and good sportsmanship and also when you are the coach your players will repond to others on how you respond yourself.

I have seen games where the players have dove, wrestled, and threw elbows. But they shake hands after the game. So why would'nt it be demanded by all Athletic Directors for the Head coaches to shake hands.

How could a head coach not shake hands after the game and keep his job?? He is an educator first and this is a major life lesson that is taught by playing a GAME!!, then realizing, just as we all do in life that a). Things do not always turn out how you would like it and b). You will not always agree with those in charge but must learn to deal with it.

 

Any coach who is not willing to set this example would not one that I would want associated with a group of teenagers that represented my school.

I agree, basketball is MUCH more than just winning & losing. You win & lose with class!

Now everyone is saying, that Coach Code from Bishop did shake hands after the game against Newport. If he did my family and I did not see him do it, But apologize for the any misconception. (Good luck Bishop Brossart the rest of the season.)
