There aren't many kids from smaller schools on the team, if any. The kid from Hazard is the only one. Should be renamed "Best of the Bluegrass 3A and Up Team."

Is Dale a member of the coaches association this year? He may not be. There was a big buzz around the state this year about RED BOOK laws and how to pay for the membership.

I know there is a good reciever on your team. Is the coach a member of the association? Did the coach nominate him?

I have no idea if he is a member or not. It's not just the WR but all the players from NKY. Conner has a very good WR also in A Way to go along with #12 from Cooper, but no CCH or Dixie or HHS etc. makes it strange that the only school that had anyone represented from the NKY area is SK. Even on Defense, Cooper had a safety who all season was in the top 40 in the entire country in tackles, surely he would of got the nod I would think.

 

IDK, maybe Coach Borchers isn't a member or didn't nominate anyone, but no other teams in the area? That makes it very odd.

No one south of Paducah qualified for the team? There are some pretty good players from Mayfield and Murray that were overlooked.

Should remember that players need to get nominated. To be nominated they probably need to be: a) pretty good, b) have an interest in playing college ball, c) have not yet selected a college if they are going to play at next level and d) be injury free or expect to be recovered from an injury.

 

Then they can get selected, then they must accept. So there are lot of gates in the process - both formal an informal.

 

Plenty of good players are not on the list but if you do not know if they were nominated and if you do not know why they were not nominated then its hard to tell what the organizers had to work with with.

 

Before screaming 'overlooked' maybe it would be worth finding out the circumstances. I know that invites were out a while ago for this event.

I know for sure that in other sports if your coach is not a member of the coaches association for that sport, not only can that coach not vote or nominate a player, no one from that team can be voted on or nominated by any other coach.

I know one player from Murray WAS nominated. The LB, #19, Jacob Mayes. He has 186 tackles for the season so far (100 solos and 86 assists), 7 sacks, 13 TFL, 7 fumble recoveries, 6 deflections, 2 interceptions (one for TD), 7 pancakes, and 2 forced fumbles. He's had offers from Air Force and Florida Institute of Technology, hasn't yet committed, and is uninjured. If that's not good enough to be selected, so be it.

Congrats to Brennan and Ben from SK. Playing in this game is great recognition. I'd be surprised someone would turn down the invite.

So here is the thing, you can get bent out of shape, but the reality is some coaches DON'T nominate their players and send film for review. A committee decides, not just the head coach of the team. Reality is, some coaches don't want to take or have the time to submit their players and send film...that's the truth. Get PO'd at the coach...plus the roster is limited in size, can't take em all. If there are superb players who didn't make the cut, odds are they didn't get submitted.

The players and coach also had to get paperwork in before a deadline...no paperwork, no play.
