I have often wondered if KY should make a slight change in the playoff game scheduling to accommodate for more attendance during the rounds. The way it is now, with a few exceptions, you only get to attend one playoff game each week because the majority of them are played on Friday night. Since half of the championship games are played on Friday and half on Saturday, to keep everyone on the same page as far as prep time goes, why not schedule those playoff games on the same day in earlier rounds.

 

For example, if 1A, 3A and 5A championship games are going to be on Friday, then schedule those playoff games on Friday night throughout all playoff rounds. And likewise, 2A, 4A and 6A would play their playoff games on Saturday throughout all playoff rounds.

 

This would allow most all fans to have a Friday / Saturday option to go and support other area teams and see more playoff football.

 

Do you think this would boost attendance? Would it be good or bad for high school football fans? What would the drawbacks be?

I believe Ohio has done this historically.

As someone who loves going all around Kentucky for football games, I think this idea is awesome. But would college football (especially UK and Louisville) hurt attendance?

Do you also take geography into account to set up which Classes play Friday's throughout?

 

For example 1A would make more sense to be a Saturday slot knowing that the odds of a loooong trip between NKY and WKY is looming in the Semi-Finals for much smaller schools and population bases.

What about to add to your idea which I think is great, Regional sites where you would play say two or three games at the same field. I am assuming it would be on turf but you could boost attendance if you were getting to watch more than one game. a lot like they do in bowl games at the beginning of the year.

I'd love to see semi-finals and maybe even region finals hosted by a 3rd school
