Forgot to add if you buy them from the Pacers website they will put you on their ticket and mailing list. That enables you to purchase playoff tickets should you desire. That included Heat vs Pacers last year

Never been to an NBA regular season game before. Am hoping to get a couple tickets for when the Bobcats visit the Pacers in early December. The fiance' is a huge MKG fan and has been very persistent in the fact that we have to go see him when they play in Indy. :lol2:

 

What's the best way to go about getting NBA tickets on the cheap? Stubhub the best option? Through the Pacers?

 

NBA started a licensed ticketing program. NBA Ticket Exchange. I'm in San Antonio for law school and saw the Finals game here through them. The program is new and they're trying to build it up, so everything is authenticated, etc. You are buying directly from the person who owns the season tickets.

 

Since the Bobcats are, well, the Bobcats, there'll probably be some type of local promotion where you can get a ticket on the cheap if you just want to go to the game. They have them all the time in San Antonio, especially for the week night games, and the Spurs have been one of the premier teams in the league for awhile and are the only act in town, so I'm guessing the Pacers-Bobcats wouldn't be too hard if you want to wait awhile.

 

If you are wanting to shell out for a special occasion and want to be sure you don't get ripped though, go to NBA.com and find the Ticket Exchange link and proceed from there. I used the Ticket Exchange because the Finals tickets weren't something I wanted to chance.

 

Going to the Colts-Texans Sunday Night Football game at Reliant this year and bought the tickets for it through the NFL's version of their ticket exchange program.

 

Seems like most of the leagues are wanting to cut out the middleman in StubHub, Ticketmaster, etc. and just do it on their own sites. Links below.

With the NBA if the game doesn't sell out the tickets will always be cheaper on stub hub.

 

Just a piece of ticket buying advice in general from my experience: StubHub is mostly people who are scalpers themselves, posting the tickets on there for more than they would ask for them at the venue, if they get a higher price, it's good for them because they make more for less work, if they don't, they'll just take them to the arena and hawk them there.

seats then traded those to a scalper and paid a little boot and was in the pavillion for

relatively cheap compared to what they were going for online.

That was the biggest show of the summer.

 

Most lesser events sell well below face value on StubHub and all tickets are guaranteed.

Been to Indy three times for ball games, Miami (Game 3 ECF), OKC last regular season, Miami playoffs two years ago. Got my tickets from StubHub every time and did alright.

 

For a game like this though I would look to see when tickets go on sale and try to get them from ticketmaster or the ticket office. Tickets are face value like this, but for big games its almost impossible to get really good seats. For a game like this you could probably score some good lower levels for what you would middle or upper on stubhub. Just be sure to find out the on sale date and order the tickets in the days directly following.

Not germane to the topic of NBA tickets, per se, but I had 2 tickets to Nebraska at Purdue on Saturday, ultimately can't go, and sold them on StubHub. They were gone in less than an hour and I got 2x face value (they were good seats in the Nebraska section [which is likely to be 60% of the stadium on Saturday]). My point in sharing this: StubHub (TicketsNow, etc.) is great if you want good seats and are willing to pay for them.

 

As many have suggested, if I want to go to a Pacers / Bobcats game, I 100% would cruise to Indy, have dinner, and then meet a nice gentleman who "I need tickets". You'll get a much better deal that way and the supply will be heavy!
