Basketball season for 2013/2014 should provide another exciting year. What should we expect from Pendleton County ? Remember, please be constructive.

It's going to be weird to see a Mason Monroe-less Pendleton County team.

 

I'll let LCD fill us in on some of the top players, but it seems to me that the Wildcats will be in for somewhat of a rebuilding year. Harrison County is the clear front-runner in the 38th District & Pendleton will have a fight on their hands with Nicholas County for the #2 spot in the district.

Transylvania.

This will be a brand new PC team for all intents and purposes. 7 seniors are gone from last years team, and only one returning player (Adam Koeninger) even started a game last year. What the starting lineup will look like on Opening night is a mystery. Seniors Koeninger, Lance Jones, Colton Pugh, and Eddie Booth will be counted on heavily, although Booth is sidelined until December with a knee injury. Jones is arguably the best shooter the team has, although Freshman Mike Antrobus will contend for some playing time at the 2. A pair of sophomores, Tanner Pugh and Hunter Wood will have to play well at the point for the team to have any success. One thing the squad has going for them is they seem to be better equipped to run Ed Craven's up-tempo style.

He is there along with 13 other frosh, 4 sophs and 2 juniors. Hopefully he gets some good minutes this year.

P County will miss him. As dawgs mentioned, very young and inexperienced. Wood and Antrubus have potential to shine. Koeninger will take and extra month to show his hoops presence as I think he in one of their grid iron stars. Also Wildcat great Talbert Turner has a nephew on the team. Always good to run in T senior at a game.

Will definitely be a rebuilding time for the Wildcats this year. As LC stated only one returning player saw serious minutes last year (Koeninger) the rest of the team will be Varsity "rookies" haha. But when you have 7 seniors the year before how would anyone get time? I saw a few JV games last year and from what I saw Jones kid can light it up at any moment. The Wood boy also played JV last year as a freshman and should be moving up to Varsity I would assume. He is a good little ball player with nice handles. The rest of the team will really be a mystery until the season starts and we see who is on the floor. We could see a lot of underclassman playing this year for the Wildcats. Will definitely be fun to see how PC will look without Mr. Monroe.

I'm sure Talbert Sr. will be at many games. He is one of the most loyal fans PC has!

Pendleton County could potentially have 16 home games this season due to hosting the 38th District Tournament for the first time since 2002. All depends on if PC has zero weather cancellations and they win their opening round game in Districts.

 

Guard play will be the Wildcats' strength this season. We could see a different PC lineup every night on the court.
