I noticed big #74 was in the game tonight for Raceland. He was absent from the game I attended and I forgot to look for him when I watched the game online last week. I am guessing the big guy is a backup that adds a lot of beef on the line for the Rams.

 

As I said it is hard to see the work of the line while watching online,with that being said it looked like the O-Line for Lawrence County was getting the best of the D-Line for the Rams, and it looked like a lot of times the big guys from Raceland was spending a lot of time finding smaller guys to thump on. Did it appear this way to those that was there and got to see the talented players up close?

to have a great team, you have to have great coaches. I'm so frustrated right now!! I also understand that I will be ridiculed for speaking what I believe to be the truth. .

If you truly think that this team doesn't have good coaches then you should be ridiculed. For starters, if Beach had played then Lawrence wouldn't have been within two touchdowns of Raceland tonight; no disrespect to the Dawgs because I do think they have a nice team. BUT..be realistic...Raceland started a Freshman and a Sophomore in the backfield tonight, & played another Sophomore who just came back from a season long injury, not to mention Litteral being out as well, and Wallace out on the OL/DL. And still had a chance to win against a good team. The Rams didn't have any speed on the corners tonight without Beach on both sides of the ball. Take away a few turnovers/mistakes, and Raceland could have/should have been up 21-0. Every time something doesn't go right doesn't mean it's a coaching mistake, and look at all of the facts before you start blaming the coaches. That's your reasoning behind anything that ever goes wrong in a Raceland game, and it's ridiculous, not to mention the statement about if they hadn't let Coal Grove back in the game, Beach wouldn't have been in there to get thrown out? Seriously? He would be in there even with the score at 34-13, because Coal Grove was still being competitive. Maybe if you watched the film like the coaches do you & understood their preparation work, might see some things differently. I see and know how they prepare, & there's not a staff in this area who prepares better than they do. Another thing you need to keep in mind; coaches make mistakes, but regardless of the preparation, you are still putting your fate in the hands of 15-18 year-old kids, and kids makes mistakes too.

20-7 Now. That talented fullback for L-County rumbled to the big gain and then later was able to score on a short run to the left side of his line.

26-20 now.

 

Raceland scores and then they opt to kick short and the Dawgs get a long return and score a short time later.

 

Rams march back down and scored again.

 

At this point there is not a lot of defense being played.

 

The Rams have a nice little running game going now, in a large part the line play has really gotten better.

 

Lawrence County runs practically well against everyone, with their offense.

 

It appears both O-lines have upped their level of play.

Ridicule me all you want, each and everyone of you, I am going to continue to speak my mind after each game. I misstated about Beach and Coal Grove, if CG doesn't get back in the game, then the onside kick would never be in play and the spear would never occur. Most teams don't have to rely on the 15 year-old end of that age group when starters aren't playing for whatever the reason...most schools don't even dress Freshmen for games, let alone start them. Secondly, as far as I know none of the coaches are allowed to play or have played one down of football this year. The game planning STILL HAS TO BE EXECUTED BY THE KIDS. Coaches can put the players in the best possible position to make plays, but the kids have to make the plays; the coaches can't do it for them. If you think our coaching staff is so bad, who would you trade them for?

ncf, in your opinion, how would this Lawrence Co team match up with the Belfry team you watched in week 1 in the PCB?

Another question for those who watched this game live... Who won the battle in the trenches?

 

I know Raceland's OL is a strong suit for their team and with them falling behind like they did I wonder if they were getting beat by Lawrence's DL. And the same question with Raceland's DL vs Lawrence's OL, who won that battle?

Keep in mind Belfry was in person and Lawrence County was online.

 

Belfry seemed faster

Line play looked about even from what I could see

QB play I think L.C. is better at doing what he does, not saying the Belfry QB is bad at running his offense.

 

Special teams Belfry has a big edge.

 

I would say overall Belfry is 2 to 3 scores better.

 

And this comes from A big Dawgs fan, as you know.

The Belfry team now is much better than the Belfry team you saw in August also, plus they will benefit greatly by their next two games against Gallia Academy OH and Christian Academy of Knoxville TN.

They have played one really good team and got waxed beat a decent team , while destroying three horrible teams.

With the score tied 7-7 didn't Raceland fumble going into the end zone and Lawrence Co return it 99 yards? What a big turnaround right before the half.

Raceland scored on its first drive. Scored on the second drive but it was called back for a block in the back. That made it 1 and 20 from the 21. We turned it over in downs. Third drive and it's second and goal from the 2 and we fumble and they have a scoop and score. So, instead of being up 21-0, we are down 8-7. Turnovers and penalties killed us all night. Plus, LC blew us up on line play. We have won the line of scrimmage battle all year but not last night. I did not think we played good defense and Goble killed us. LC is a really good team and they earned the win. They have a few kids that need to learn to play ball and stop taunting and mouthing off but it's an emotional game and younger players are sometimes not as ready to handle to moment. Hopefully, they will change and/or the coaches will address that because they are too good of a team to earn that type of reputation.

I would take coach Vanderhoof back hands down, any day of the week. I don't believe coach Maynard has the emotional ties to the school that are required for the job. This is one of the most talented teams Raceland has ever fielded, you can keep blaming it on the kids all you want, but it still comes down to the coaches. Where's the energy? It hasn't been consistent all year. I saw too many kids dropping their heads last night, that's like blood to a shark and only makes the other team want it more. Talk to Nathan McPeek and how he instructs his kids to keep busting away, because Raceland will break. I'm sorry, these are the facts as I see them and I'm going to keep stating them week in and week out.

 

You seem to know so much about this team and the coaching staff, tell me how many games that they've won that they weren't heavily favored in? I can't think of one. What is it? I don't know. Maybe the kids that have been starting since they were sophomores are burnt out or maybe it's the coaching staff.

 

The all or nothing defense is killing us, we leave our corners on an island by themselves too much. Our linebackers don't read and react like they should. All I have heard for the last two years is how great of an offensive and defensive line Raceland has, well, this game was lost one on the line of scrimmage.

 

Why does it take so long for Salmons to get a play in? Elkins is a three year starter, he should be calling some of the plays at the line of scrimmage by now. Why does the passing game get shut down as soon as we throw a pick?
