September 18, 201313 yr Alex, I'll take 'Things I Never Thought I'd See On BGP' for $200. I'm on a mission to civilize.
September 18, 201313 yr Same here. With my lack of faith in the credibility of the media, this worksheet may not be as big of a deal as the article states. Pretty much where I was coming from as well. I have no difficulty believing that the content was ludicrous as a favorite pastime of a lot of historians these days has been to play a game of "Pointless Revisionism" on the crusades and the Muslim conquests but I'm less certain as to how explicit a high school worksheet would be on those topics.
September 18, 201313 yr I am OK with the field trip if it was simply to expose the students to religions they only hear about on TV but never have further exposure to. It was the worksheet where it looked like this trip/worksheet may have some indoctrination to it. Is it a schools job to expose students to any form of religion?
September 18, 201313 yr I have no issue with them exposing the students to the various religions of the world, and if they had to have a permission slip (which I'm sure they did), I don't think the school did anything wrong.....except for the worksheet. I'd be interested to know what this worksheet included.

If there's a bunch of drama about saying the pledge, praying, posting the ten commandments and saying the word Christmas...then the kids have no business being exposed to Islam or anything else.

If this is the only religion they're exposed to, I may agree. Do we know that's the case? And again, if they made them get permission slips signed, the school did nothing wrong.
September 18, 201313 yr Author The worksheet is least of my concern, a school couldnt even go to a play and watch Charlie Brown Christmas at a church. Where you a now ACLU and ARK Society of Free Thinkers. This is all called INDOCTRINATION, making things acceptable, unless it is Christianinty, then it is a war on us. But the Arkansas Society of Freethinkers claims the outing 'violates religious freedom' and 'entirely' oversteps the line between church and state Read more: Charlie Brown Christmas play: Atheist group attacks elementary school over field trip to see 'A Charlie Brown Christmas' at local church claiming it 'violates religious freedoms' | Mail Online Follow us: @MailOnline on Twitter | DailyMail on Facebook

Did they have to sign a permission slip? etc.
September 18, 201313 yr Sounds like the field trips have been discontinued because they aren't able to go to all 5 of the major religions. “Our district has reviewed the practice and decided to eliminate field trips to religious venues from this class, as it does not provide equal representation to all the religions studied in the course unit,” the statement read. “This decision was made due to the fact that equal representation in regards to field trips for all religions studied in the course is not feasible.”

I'd be interested to know what this worksheet included. I remember doing a unit on the world's major religions; probably in World History. I think my presentation was on Zoroastrianism. And before anyone asks - the central figure did not wear a black mask and go around carving "Zs" on people's attire with his sword.
September 18, 201313 yr Well Thank goodness they at least got to go learn how to be an Islamist and a Koran to read at bedtime. I can't help but think you and some others that are complaining about this would have a completely different attitude had it been some Muslim families complaining that the school took a field trip to a Christian church....
September 18, 201313 yr I can't help but think you and some others that are complaining about this would have a completely different attitude had it been some Muslim families complaining that the school took a field trip to a Christian church.... They complain about that all the time. Why aren't any Muslims complaining about this?
September 18, 201313 yr They complain about that all the time. Why aren't any Muslims complaining about this? Right, and every time Mtn Ref and others come on here and say they shouldn't.
September 18, 201313 yr Author They complain about that all the time. Why aren't any Muslims complaining about this? Muslims arent complaining about going to Christian Churches for field trips because there arent any field trips to christian churches, that is not allowed, dont want to push religion on anyone. Is that what you were asking or was you meaning I am complaining all the time
