September 18, 201313 yr Any movement on the betting line? Opened last Thursday (common practice off-shore) as Bengals -1. On Tuesday, not surprisingly, it jumped to Packers -1.5 to -2.5, depending on when and where. If you look around now you can find the line anywhere from Packers -1 to Packers -3. At a particular Sports Book in Vegas that has the line currently as Packers -1, 76% of their wagers accepted are for the Packers and 24% are taking the Bengals.

September 18, 201313 yr When a betting line is set, I don't think they are making a prediction on the game. They are making a prediction on what the betting public thinks about the game and they are trying to drive betting action. I always look at betting lines as public opinion polls. I am not a bettor. Agree to some extent, but to the big timers who are very, very sharp bettors, this is kind of a dangerous game. It takes lots of small bets to cancel out one big one.

And it will be adjusted if one side is bet heavily. Now the fact that many area "Bengals" fans think the line should be have the Bengals getting more than 2 points just means that area fans do not have as much faith in the Bengals as the rest of the country.
