Genetics play a role in obesity also.

Only the fact that they can't metabolize garbage food like skinny folks can. So what does one do, say "I have a thick bone structure and am predisposed to being fat, so hell with it?" No, they do what you just did, realize that they have to have more discipline than their friend who can eat everything. It is no different than an average student getting the same grades as a smarter student due to extra work. It takes commitment and self-discipline. America lacks this in spades.

I have said for years that human nutrition and more physical education should be taught from K-12.

Personal finance should be added 6-12. Kids need to know way more about these three "subjects" than anything else they will ever learn in school.

THIS as well.

I'm not calling for that. I'm calling for education. I'm calling for premium breaks for those who reach certain health benchmarks. I'm not calling for McDonald's to be put out of business by the Federal Government. I'm hoping that people will be smart enough not to eat there, and the natural market will take McDs under.

But those benchmarks are junk. Case in point.

Co worker of mine, can not get the best plan option because its says his BMI is too high. Because he weights to much for his weight.

Dude is ripped like arnold back in the day, works out 7 days a week and has 6% body fat, but BMI is too high, and thats the factor that counts.

Cant add them, there not tested on them. In fact some districts are removing their Business classes all together as they are not tested.

BMI is a joke. I'm talking actual precursor's such as blood pressure, HDL/LDL levels, body fat %, things that actually count. I've been obese by BMI standards since I was 17.

I would argue that what was once thought about HDL/LDL, and still thought by most, is junk. BMI is tool that can and should be used for unhealthy people. The problem is it doesn't work for most people that workout and are fit. It doesn't take BF% and muscle mass into consideration.

Personal Finance has been a class at NewCath for about 10 years and counting.

Must be sponsored by UPS.

Dave Ramsey's Financial Freedom is what should be taught in high school.

For a male 6'0 you have to be under 279 pounds to get approved on a plan currently. I don't think that unreasonable.

Well hes about 5'6" or so a little guy, weighs around 190, but like I said, hes not fat, built like a brick.

He can be up to 235 at 5'6. 190 is right within the preferred health range. I don't see why that would be an issue for him .
