September 7, 201313 yr I know this may sound odd' date=' but I like my laser sight, because once it's on you, there's little doubt what's next. Maybe this could have happened and helped the incident end better.[/quote'] How?
September 7, 201313 yr How? If you hopped across my fence, I put the laser on your chest, would you keep on coming? Would you have any doubt what the possible outcome for you would be? And if I announced that you would be best served to lay flat in your face until the authorities arrived would you comply? Or would you simply go back over the 6 foot fence you climbed?
September 8, 201313 yr Justified. 2am you see someone jumping your fence to get into your yard. Secondly I would be interested if there is a curfew in that city for minors. IF so then a 14 year old shouldn't of been out that late in the first place.
September 8, 201313 yr 14 Year Old in Coma After Being Shot in Head "The shooting, happened just before 2 a.m. July 26 in a gentrified neighborhood in New Orleans. It came less than two weeks after George Zimmerman's acquittal in a similar case in Florida. Police say Marshall Coulter, who was unarmed, hopped a 6-foot fence surrounding the driveway and courtyard area of the home of Merritt Landry, who is now charged with attempted second-degree murder. Landry, a city building inspector who has since been put on leave, was home with a pregnant wife and toddler. He shot once at Coulter, hitting him in the head, police said." The above tells me all I need to know. Justified. What say you? This article leaves out Coulter's 8 previous burglary arrests, and the video that shows him, and an accomplice, casing Landry's house for hours before he went over the fence. From the Times-Picayune: "On Friday, Coulter's family acknowledged the teen's history of burglary arrests but said he had never used a gun. New Orleans Police would not comment on Coulter's previous arrest record due to the fact that he is a minor".
September 9, 201313 yr I agree. However, you have to look at the facts of the case. There was a 6 foot high fence blocking access to this property. The kid jumped that. This occurred at 2 in the morning. I think any reasonable person, especially one with a young child and a pregnant wife, would feel threatened in that situation. apparently a known burglar
September 9, 201313 yr This guy didn't know who was in his yard, but after reading the comments at the end of the article, I don't think that it matters. Did you read how many murders have happened near there? Heck w/ that, I'm erroring on the side of caution. How do you know if the kid is uarmed? I don't know LA state law, especially since their court system differs from the rest of the country. He may have only been able to use deadly force if the intruder entered a closer proximity to the house. I don't know the legal answer and am not going to look it up, but I do know that I could have been one to do this same thing. As for race baiting going on....really? Can't we just say, for once, that this was a tragic event and keep color out of it? Race, IMO, is a factor in some crimes, but crying wolf over every incident that happens b/n blacks and whites trivializes those cases.
