Congratulations Perry Central. The Commodores proved me wrong tonight, they were a little under sized but left it all on the field to pitch a shutout.

This one surprised me a little. Congrats to Perry Central, nice way to open up a new stadium.

Congrats to Coach Haddix and his team.

Good luck next week against wha tlooks like a strong Corbin team.

On Friday, the Perry County Central Commodores opened their new football field by hosting the TECO Bowl. The Commodores took on the Clay County Tigers in this season opener.

The game opened with each team feeling out the other, trying to settle on a game plan that would work. The first period ended with a no points on the scoreboard.

Perry Central began to move the ball in the second period, and eventually found themselves in the red zone. Nathan Pray finished off the drive with a dive over the defense for a touchdown (Michael Shepherd added the extra point), giving the Commodores the 7-0 lead.

The Commodores would get their second touchdown of the game when Tyler Fugate picked up a fumble and rambled 58 yards through the Tiger defense for the score. The extra point was no good, setting the score at 13-0.

Later in the period, Devan Brewer finished off a drive with a short run. The conversion pass was batted in the air, and eventually landed in the hands of John Toomer, giving Perry Central a 21-0 lead.

The Commodores were able to close out the fourth quarter by keeping the Tigers out of the end zone to preserve the shutout and the win.

Devan Brewer was named the offensive player of the game, Cody Taylor the defensive player of the game, while Tyler Fugate received overall player of the game.
