Looked like a knee injury. Came in and hit someone and went down holding his knee. Hope it isn't serious. Have had the chance to get to know him a little and talk to him and he seems like a pretty good kid.

I talked to Owen after the scrimmage, I think it's just a sprain.

Boone looks like later in the season they could be tough, as they are pretty young and with the new offense, they have some kinks to work out.

I got a chance to talk with him after one of the 7 on 7's against Cooper while I was talking to his dad, he seemed like a really nice kid, very polite. Hope he's gonna be alright.

Remember the 1st string QB was sitting out but.....IMHO a little rough.

 

As I stated, young and new offense but I think the more they play and the deeper BC gets into the season, the better they will get.

That offense is like the old Veer offenses...it takes some real time to get used to the timings and precision of the intricacies. Like Novocain, just give it time. Expect Boone to get better and better as they go!

Random thoughts:

 

It was great to meet Theoldguy and his boss. CovCath is lucky to have a man like tog volunteering his time. But tog did hold out on me by engaging me in conversation while I was giving Coach Trosper a hard time and not telling me who he was. And tog is looking lean and mean.

I agree with tog, Boone's field looks really good.

I think the 1 on 1 score was 21 to 0 Butler with two of the scores coming on kick/punt returns.

Boone's kick coverage was pathetic. Lanes people.

Butler has a handful of gifted athletes that made Boone look stupid in space.

Butler's QB looked nice, they have something going with that offense.

I met about 30 Butler fans, what a nice bunch of people.

Aaron Floyd looks good running the ball but Boone has to do more than that on offense.

The big problem I see with Boone is their OL play. As much as this offense is a work in progress the OL looks to be even more of a work in progress.

Boone DB Conner Taylor had the hit of the night, bone crushing!

CovCath must have had 40 coaches at the game (okay, 10 and tog running back up).

Coach Trosper and his assistant were loose and relaxed. Coach was making funnies, not Tom Stellman quality funnies, but funnies. I don't think Coach Trosper is worried about Boone.

Butler opens up with Fern Creek and Creek was there scouting. Their scout looked like he could play in the league right now along with CCH DB Coach Chase Floyd.

I agree with tog and East Raider, Boone should be a tough out late in the season but it may be tough sledding early.

Butler has Male in week 2, I like Male in that game but Butler is a dangerous team.

At this point I would call CovCath a big favorite over Boone in week one and Conner a favorite over Boone in week 2.
