If Drew has toned up 9th teams are in trouble. If he's added muscle and lost some baby fat he will get position where he wants it and when he wants it.

Getting any taller?

I really didn't take much notice one way or the other, but IMO there is no one in the 9th that can stop him. Better yet, what pair will be able to defend him and Jake Schulte????

Did Q Chames play AAU this summer? If so, with who? I heard he was very athletic.

Will defer to Walter on this one. It would be a shame if the kid didn't play, it could have really improved his game.

A few thoughts from tonight:

4. James Bolden struggled some the first game with his shot but really got hot from the top of the key and left wing down by the entrance in the second game. His handles are so quick and end to end is a blur with the ball. Had a couple nice assists tonight, including a nice dime in between two defenders that led to a Chames "dunk" (if you want to call it that, kind of just raised up and layed it in without pulling the rim down) to win against the college group.

6. A coach told me this not too long ago and I now feel comfortable repeating it...Quentin Chames has the chance to absolutely dominate this year down low. When he wanted a rebound, nobody was going to out muscle him or go up over him and get it. Really liked seeing him and McDonald battle down low even though it was just an open gym. Good battle. Also had a nice oop dunk.

Thanks for the input Walter. Always like seeing your analysis and videos.

To the underlined and bolded: As a kid, I went to a couple of state tournaments with a friend of mine who now teaches at Madison Central, so the guy's seen some games. I told him to get ready for a show the night before Holmes and Madison Central played. I called him to get his thoughts on the game between Holmes and Madison Central because he was texting me updates throughout (I couldn't watch, so just had to check texts).

Anyway, one of the kids he really bragged on from Holmes was Chames. At the time I didn't know a lot about his game, but after hearing my friend's opinion on how he played that day and seeing him in some of your highlight videos, count me as someone whose impressed by what he can do to help you win.

Hard for a NKY guy to be "underrated" on here sometimes, but looking back, I really think he may be. Not saying he's a kid whose a "can't miss" D1 prospect by any means, but I think he's got a future playing on scholarship at a school somewhere if that's what he chooses.

Do you know if any smaller schools have offered him yet? Also, has anyone shown interest?

Played with some team out of Cincinnati... The Family 2 , maybe? He and Hill played for the same team.

He still needs to hit the weight room to tone up, but has definetly dropped the weight needed to get there. As far as height, legit 6'6, MAYBE pushing 6'7.

Will post video today (at the "begging" request of LB13). :lol2:

No offers to my knowledge but starting to receive some college interest. He has really worked on improve his mid range and outside game over the summer and if he can become consistent from those levels, could really improve his stock. Athletically, not many kids around nky and the state with the type of athleticism as him and as far as his body goes (not to be creepy or anything), the kid is absolutely rocked up compared to last year. I don't think he has an ounce of body fat on him.

Definetly looking forward to seeing him this year. He has really improved since first putting on a Holmes jersey. Tries to dunk anything around the rim now and he didn't show that aggressiveness at the beginning of last year.

One thing I did notice while watching the video just now...Grant Moeves ran the point when Pangallo was out and the Breds subbed in Weyer when someone would get tired.

That bounce pass around the 2:19 mark is SICK!! The step-back 3s are killer, and as many great things as that young man does, that court vision and awareness and unselfish play is very impressive.

Kudos to Coach Dawn for opening the door for EVERYONE to play. Best of luck to all the players .. should be a great season!!!

Nice work Walter. The "stick-back" at the 1:05 mark is Justin Jackson from NKU....kid has some serious "hops".

Good to hear. I think the kid has a ticket to get his education paid for by playing at the next level if he really wants it.

Agreed. I see no reason why he couldn't play at the DII level.

Have heard Holmes will play Ballard in the Joe B Hall this year. If that is the case, really looking forward to seeing him match up with Kelan Martin. Very similar players, IMO.

I believe Lockland (Cincinnati), same school that the Short kid from Newport transferred to.

So both Short's are gone from Newport?
