Dwight Howard to the Rockets

What's the big hold up? "It's hard to walk away from $30 million," said a source close to Dwight Howard. "Harder than we thought."

But because of the huge tax difference was it posted that he would actually earn more money by making less in Houston. I think his ego won't let him take less even though it would actually mean more to his pocket. Of course no one ever said he was a rocket scientist or even a CPA to begin with.

His total earning power is much greater it LA plus is depends on where he "lives" he still has a house in FL.

Marketing is better in LA obviously but it also can become a bigger headache.

UPDATE: A source has told ESPN that Dwight Howard has "changed his mind." Howard has told Lakers he's now 50-50.

Nope it only matters where he works, not where he lives. They get taxed in each city they play in.

Professional sports players get taxed by pretty much every city and state in which they play, says Ryan Losi, CPA and executive vice president of Piascik & Associates, a Glen Allen, Va., accounting firm that represents more than 70 professional athletes.

"NFL players typically file in 10 to 12 jurisdictions. NBA is somewhere between 16 and 20. MLB is somewhere between 20 and 26, and the NHL is between 14 and 16," says Losi.

Of the nine states that don't have state income tax, only Florida, Tennessee, Texas and Washington have pro teams, says Robert Raiola, CPA and sports and entertainment group manager for Fazio, Mannuzza, Roche, Tankel, LaPilusa LLC, a Cranford, N.J., firm that represents more than 100 pro athletes.

This Dwightmare is getting crazy!!! I wish that big baby would hurry up and make a decision. He can't get along with anyone no matter where he goes. Got his coach and GM fired at Orlando, Him and Kobe had words...No matter where he goes he's gonna throw fits if he doesn't get his way. Even tho it's not over, I will be very surprised if he lands anywhere other than Houston

I posted earlier that an unnamed NBA executive said that he didn't have the guts to leave...

Here we go again, I guess we knew this going in thought obviously it wasn't going to be that simple.

Now Dwight Howard says he's "50-50." He can't decide whether he wants to underachieve in front of Lakers fans or Rockets fans.

Dwight Howard was never able to decide on a post move to learn either. #zing
