Rumor has it that when some parents from South Floyd (15th Region All "A" Chanps) tried to get rooms in Richmond for the upcoming tournament, most places had no vacancies. Come to find out, Paintsville had reserved 26 rooms down there weeks ago. OOPS!!!!

 

Hope they didn't put a deposit down on those rooms or it has went in File 13 where rumor has it the 2nd place trophy went.

Maybe because the Girls are also playing in Richmond....

 

I know coaches and parents make reservations, to have in place for the Sweet 16 and can be cancelled if needed.

Plus the All "A" provides the rooms for the teams involved, and like A2000 said, even if the boys' parents did make reservations they could use them still and watch the girls play! So either way you look at it, the money is not wasted. Do a little research next time before you jump to conclusions.

Well...some people in Floyd County had to take "time" to cleanup trophies that Paintsville threw away after they lost in the finals to South Floyd. Hope that doesn't affect their confidence.

Trust me, Richmond has far more than 28 hotel rooms. There is a Best Western, Comfort Suites, Days Inn, Econo Lodge, Hapmton Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Jameson Inn, La Quinta Inn, Red Roof Inn and Knights Inn. There are also some in Berea which is a 10 minute drive.

The All "A" schedules the rooms. Confidence is a big part of success. If you don't think you are going to win, you probably won't. Geez, this is a ridiculous forum.

Two comments to make in response to your post:

 

(1) If any Paintsville players threw their trophies away, I guess that is their right, but it is shameful. If you get a trophy you should be happy to get it.

 

(2) As to cleanup, that is what happens when a school hosts a tourney. Just part of the job. If they don't like it, then they don't have to host it.

I would say since our girls won today, more than 26 rooms are being used at Richmond.

 

To me, this thread is just trying to get some comments going and I believe most have too much class on here, to reply. If you want to know what Coach Runyon thinks, call him and ask him.

There should be no 2nd Place trophies to begin with. Basically they say: "Congrats for being the first place loser". Nonetheless, I agree, noone should throw them away, but I must say, who really cares.

Couldn't agree with you more on your response!! Any player with class would accept his trophy and keep it, whether it was 1st or 2nd. And no dispute from me as to the job done by the host Allen Central. BUT, as disgraceful as it is, it is a player's right to throw his trophy away. Just as a soldier has a right to throw away or sale his medals. But is is a very shameful and disrespectful thing to do. I'm sure that even if mad, BMR wouldn't condone this act. But that is all you can say about it. I would add that I don't personally know of any Paintsville players doing so, but can't say that any of them didn't either.

I don't have a problem throwing your trophy away, but do it at home. Don't make it a protest. When you throw all the trophies away, that just puts your team in a bad light, warranted or not.

If Paintsville had wanted the 1st place trophy, then they should have won it on the court like they could and should have! It does no good to whine about it after the game!
