There should be no 2nd Place trophies to begin with. Basically they say: "Congrats for being the first place loser". Nonetheless, I agree, noone should throw them away, but I must say, who really cares.

There is never any excuse to throw trophies away. If trophies were thrown away at the site of the tournament, that is really a display of poor sportsmanship. I hope that somebody is mistaken.

I agree GOPNATE! No second place trophies should be awarded! People might say it is bad sportsmanship or what not, but if you don't win, you don't win. Plain and simple. And if you don't win, then you lost. You don't need a trophy for losing. These are high school kids which most now a days are men rather than kids. I personally know a player from Paintsville's 2003 team that gave his regional runner up medal to someone that thought more of it than he did. It was an elementary student and that medal means more to him than it would to the player. A second place trophy is just a reminder that you lost!!!

It is interesting you mentioned that PVILLE GRAD -- I gave my second place medal to one of my coaches son's and I certainly don't miss it.

If Paintsville had wanted the 1st place trophy, then they should have won it on the court like they could and should have! It does no good to whine about it after the game!

If I remember correctly didn't Bob Huggins kids at Cincy have an attitude and reputation? And weren't his teams pretty good year in and year out? Whatever happened to someone actually caring about winning? All anyone does is complain now a days.

Imo, I think they can't match up with Sheldon Clark or Johnson Central. DOwn low is how JCHS beat them in the first game and that was with Williams.

I just wanted to make it clear that this thread is a little bit funny. "Paintsville A Little Too Confident?" -- this suggests that the Tigers, with a 15-7 record, 4-2 in the District, is somehow cocky. Well, if anyone is cocky with the losses we have accrued, then there may be some mental issues that the team needs to take care of.

 

I hope the Tigers will rebound, and become confident, but for now, there is little to be confident about.

I was directing this more to the fans than the players, but if any DID throw their trophies away, then it would serve them right for not winning the game and getting a second place trophy.

 

I agree that if not true then this site is spreading rumors. I don't personally know of any players that threw their trophies away! Where did this come from anyway??
