June 21, 201313 yr LeBron's comments after the MVP trophy presentation... that was pretty terrible. "I wasn't supposed to be here..." What? I could be a Lebron fan if he didn't talk. Dude is dumb. You all totally don't understand what he was trying to say. Through all the hate, criticism and everything else he was just pretty much saying he came from the streets, from poverty, he wasn't even supposed to make it (ignoring the fact he's the best physical talent to ever play). For those who don't know Lebrons back story, he grew up in the projects to a single mother who was a crack addict. He had nothing in terms of material wealth, although he did always have love which IMO is always the most important thing. He was just trying to say most people coming from his situation never get out, they end up in the streets for life and/or death. They end up selling drugs and gang banging, and at worst prison or in the grave. That is what he meant by he wasn't even supposed to be there. Most people never make it out alive, he did. That's why I respect him. He came from nothing and look at him now.

June 21, 201313 yr Anyone think that Ray Allen retires after this? He should. He can still play and contribute big shots (as he showed this season), but why not go out on top? That's why he came to Miami in the first place, to win. Now that he's done that, what else is there for him to prove? He's already the best 3pt shooter of all time.

More at 11. :ohbrother: Sure a good percentage of pro athletes do, but Lebron really did come from a bad situation. There's been a lot of Lebron type players who never made it out, high school phenoms that let the streets get the best of them. Lenny Cooke anyone? How about an in state refernce, Bud Mackey (although maybe not inner city same principle). Just because there are quite a few who have made it out, there will still never be more than the ones who didn't.

June 21, 201313 yr Maybe the most disgusting trend in modern culture is the ability to deflect any genuine criticism and chalk it all up to "haters". I get why people like it. It's a practice that instantly absolves you from the need to explain your actions. Who wouldn't want that?
June 21, 201313 yr I've said on several occasions he's the best player in the world right now... I was more referring to the people thinking he is a bad person part. People will always think hes an arrogant tool just because they don't like him and refuse to believe he is actually a nice guy at heart.

Other than the "decision" though, what has Lebron really done to deserve all the criticism he has received over the years? Guys been hated on more than any athlete to ever play, and its not even close. People disect everything he does, everything he says, I mean its crazy how much criticism and pure hate that is directed at the guy.
