That's what he told me...I think they meant that he can't wait til the end of his senior year to decide. They are playing in a tournament this weekend. I plan on getting an interview with him when they get back from nationals to update everyone on his recruitment and explain things like that.

From my observations many D2 teams give the athlete a deadline well before the first signing period which is in November. These schools don't want to miss out on other candidates for their program, while someone ponders their decision and then decides not to pick your school. Then they end up with no one. I would think they gave Jake until sometime in mid-August to decide.

I caught a couple of Jake's games in the Super show case this past week He looked pretty good. He really runs the floor well.

Not surprising at all. Coach Nienabor is a Lasalle grad with close ties to the Cincy area. He likes tall athletic kids. The AD at CBU is a Newport Catholic graduate. I've heard they are recruiting the NKY/greater Cincy are very hard with offers out to a couple other local kids as well?:thumb:

Joe Nadicksbernd

Director of Athletics

 

One of the longest tenured individuals at Christian Brothers University, Athletic Director Joe Nadicksbernd (or Coach Nate as he is more affectionately known) has been a part of the CBU community for most of the last 40 years. A two-sport athlete in basketball and baseball from 1967 to 1971, Nadicksbernd returned to CBU in 1974 to coach the baseball team, a position he held for 25 years, retiring after the 1999 season.

 

On the baseball field, Nadicksbernd was the MVP for the Bucs his senior year and holds a lifetime .329 batting average, and in 122 career games, had 17 home runs and 122 RBIs. During his four-year career, the Bucs went 89-46. A standout on the basketball court as well, Nadicksbernd scored 1,246 points and pulled down 963 rebounds. He averaged 13 points and 10 rebounds leading CBU to a 55-44 record over four years. He ranks in the top ten in career field goal attempts (7th), rebounds (2nd), rebounds per game (3rd), and ranks in the top ten with individual season marks in rebounds (6th), and rebounds per game (6th & 9th).

 

Nadicksbernd earned a BS in Marketing from CBU in 1971 and also holds a M.Ed from Memphis which he earned in 1978. He began his baseball coaching career with the Bucs in 1974 and earned his first collegiate win on March 4, 1975 against cross-town rival LeMoyne-Owen. Nadicksbernd would go on to win 586 career games. Win number 500 came on April 15, 1995. In 25 seasons, he averaged over 23 wins per year, with his best coming in 1984 when the Bucs went 34-18. During his tenure, he graduated over 97 percent of his student-athletes and had 15 winning seasons, winning 30 or more games four times.

 

Nadicksbernd was also the head basketball coach at CBU from 1978 through the 1982 season. He won 40 games during his tenure and was named TCAC Coach of the Year in the Western Division in 1980.

 

After retiring from his baseball head coaching duties after the 1999 season, he was named the Associate Athletic Director. Nadicksbernd was a key member of the team that led CBU's move from NAIA to NCAA Division II in 1997. He was named the Director of Athletics at CBU in 2003. Since his promotion, Nadicksbernd has overseen the massive improvements to Canale Arena (formerly De Le Salle Gymnasium) that saw the addition of new bleachers, including chairback seating, new glass backboards, new media tables and a state-of-the-art scoreboard. The locker room facilities have also been remodeled, making the face-lift to Canale Arena complete. He has also presided over renovations to Signaigo Field, Buc Field, and Bland Field.

 

A native of Dayton, Ky. and product of Newport Catholic High School, Nadicksbernd was married to the former Carol Phillips of Memphis on December 11, 1970. The couple resides in Collierville and has two sons Russell and Spencer.

From what I heard, they HAVE NOT offered Jake. If they have, that's news to him.

I hope he does his research on what a great program the University of Findlay is let alone its basketball program. The head coach Charlie Ernst is truly a class act who really cares about the success of his players on and off the court. He's been with Findlay starting as a player, then GA, to asscociate head coach, and now head coach for the last two years. This year Findlay will once again be one of the favorites to win the GLIAC and earn a trip to the NCAA tourney.

If he can develop a consistent jump shot, he could play at some of the low major schools recruiting him. He has very good athleticism for his size and runs the floor well.

 

I personally think Eastern would be a good fit and he'd have the chance to be a major impact guy if he ended up at the D2 level. The good thing is, he knows a jump shot is what separates him from D2 and D1 so he is constantly working in the gym.

You mentioned Eastern, any other d1 schools looking at him? And, if he develops a jumpshot,wow, he could be real tough to stop in the 9th, as if he isn't tough enough already.
