Dixie this year will be a lot like Holmes next year with a stud senior and a very good, deep junior class to compliment.

Are you kidding me? There is no way Holmes will be behind Dixie or CovCath. Holmes & NewCath will have the best collection of talent in the region, not to mention better coaching. I have heard every year since 2000 from the Dixie faithful that Dixie is going to be all this and then they fail miserably in the post season outside of a 4OT victory over NewCath a few years ago. To me seeing is believing and we will see what Dixie has.

I'm not sure who your source is that tells you Dixie's been strong every year since 2000. I can count on one hand how many legit teams they've had in the last 13 years that had a shot at a region crown. NewCath hasn't exactly been walking away with Regional crowns either...all of which have nothing to do with the upcoming season.

 

Let's face it, Holmes squeeked by every game in the Regional tourney last year. I don't expect that to get easier this upcoming season. NewCath will be the team to beat. Holmes is Bolden...period,

Let's get one thing straight first, I graduated from Holmes and they are very near and dear to my heart... my 2nd favorite team.

 

Holmes lost a LOT in Engelmon and will sorely miss those Sr. guards. I'm not sure they will be consistent enough from 3 point land to keep teams from sagging on Beetle and Mcc. I am also interested to see if Chames can "keep it together" all year and stay between the lines.

 

I think Beetle will struggle this year. It's hard to "be the guy" night-in and night-out. He will have a target on his back this year. He kind of snuck up on teams last year. Both Hatton and Ruthsatz will battle for the title of best guard in the 9th this season, but Drew McDonald will hands down be the best player up here.

Andrew Hedger, 6'5" (ish), 215lb., Post Player, Dixie Heights HS

 

 

Andrew is a strong, physical young player with a lot of promise for Dixie. He has real solid footwork in the post, can score from the block with his back to the basket, or block-extended by facing up, and is developing a real solid mid-range game. From the short corners and elbows, he has become pretty consistent at knocking those jumpers down. For a big guy, he also has a decent ability to put the ball on the floor for a dribble or two to finish inside the paint. He also runs the floor pretty well, and has nice athleticism, as he can throw down with 2 hands in his 215lb frame. Defensively, he is strong inside and isn't afraid to stick his nose in there. He averaged right at 8 rebounds per game this summer as well, while adding over a block per game.

 

He works hard on his overall game, and still needs some work on his perimeter defense, and work to extend his handle range out to the 3pt line. At times, he might also take that first step to attack before putting the ball on the floor (traveling). These are things I am sure he'll work on this winter, and he has a couple years to continue improving.

 

Hedger is a great kid that does nothing but work. He is a good basketball talent, and from what I've heard he might be even better on the football field. I understand he has a lot of college interest on the FB field. Can't wait to see him this fall/winter.

Stopped by Dixie yesterday...kids are working out 4 days a week. Twice a week with pool work outs at Silverlake, one day a week in the weight room, and one day of open gym.

 

Matt Isbel, Liam Rabe, and Adam Daria have all three put on 10 lbs of muscle over the summer. Look for a big year out of Hatton. Kid is finally healthy and I think we will see a kid that dominates the way he did his sophomore year.
