While I'm happy Illinois went to the Rose Bowl, they really shouldn't have been there, and they lost to a better team.

 

They got to go because Michigan had been there more recently.

 

That said, I'd be extremely happy if they made it to the Rose Bowl this year too. Win or lose.

I guess that I am a rare fan of both OSU and UK football. I don't believe that I have ever slammed U.K. football while boasting on OSU football. If I did I can assure that it was in retaliation to one of the many post from many U.K. fans that are-anti Buckeye fans and/or all out haters that seem to take out their frustrations on U.K. football by trashing OSU. What that may accomplish I will never understand but as Uncle Si Robertson says....Hey. :idunno: :lol2:

I don't think UK will ever be a program that pulls in top 10 classes on a consistent basis if ever. They need to look north to MSU and what Dantonio has done. He pulls in quality classes of 3 and 4 star players and he is never winning the recruiting battle on paper with Michigan and OSU. But he brings in quality athletes who fits his system. He allows his players to develop in the system. Now you can make the argument over the last 5-6 years MSU has been the most consistent big 10 program.

You make some very good points. U.K. will never, imo out recruit the top teams in the SEC. Those programs - Bama, LSU, UGA, FLA, AUB, etc. have years upon years of football tradition and records/championships (both SEC & NCAA) to back them up. Basically the same problem that those teams have recruiting against U.K. in basketball.

I'd be happy to make it to the fight.

 

:thumb: and U.K. is a looooong way from getting there. I just hope that after two or three decent classes brought in that a lot of U.K. fans don't start complaining, whining that things aren't getting done. A couple of good recruiting classes gets a coach some good starters, doesn't begin to build depth (down thru the 2nd, 3rd) teams. U.K. had Nothing when Stoops arrived, so what he has got is his recruits added to nothing, basically 1AA team talent.

As I said, he imo is the right guy for the job at this time but as the old saying goes "can't make chicken salad out of chicken :poop:".

Actually, I've never understood the hatred that most of the people around here have towards OSU. We rarely play them. They're not really a rival.

That's an easy answer. Their fans are the most annoying obnoxious fan base in all of sports. It's the same reason so many people dislike Kentucky basketball fans, only magnified about 20x.

 

They've won something like one National Championship in the last 40+ years, but you'd never know it from their fans. A lot like Notre Dame in that regard.

UK bball and OSU football the same, saying OSU is worse is ridiculous. I hang with tons of them most are alumni who are very educated. I'll also continue to say they don't give 2 craps about UK, the rivalry is UK produced. The only school OSU cares about enough to follow or bash is TSUN.

UK offered 5 star WR George Campbell today. Down Harros then tweeted somethin like "how about me and Geoege Campbell turning around UK together?" Don't do this to me Damien
